Scouting Report

2025

Scouting grades: Hit: 45 | Power: 40 | Run: 60 | Arm: 50 | Field: 50 | Overall: 40

A one-time Cuban standout, Labrada headed to the Dominican Republic so he could sign as an international free agent, and the Mariners signed him for $350,000 in January 2021. After the pandemic, he made his professional debut with Single-A Modesto at age 21. A lack of an approach at the plate and some injuries kept him at the A levels for parts of four seasons, finally touching Double-A for the first time in 2024. Things clicked a lot more in 2025 and he’s been able to move from Arkansas to Triple-A Tacoma.

A 5-foot-8 left-handed-hitting sparkplug, Labrada’s carrying tool has always been his plus speed. He’s stolen at least 30 bases in four of his five seasons with the Mariners, with a high of 49 in 2024. He's shown a good, compact swing from the left side of the plate at times, but struggled with chase and recognizing spin and softer stuff at others. He cut down on his swing-and-miss considerably in 2025 and drew more walks to become a much better tablesetter. He’ll never be a power guy, but he’s gotten to a bit more extra-base authority.

Labrada’s speed has always been an asset in the outfield. He’s seen time in all three spots, spending more time in the corners over the last couple of years. His best bet at a big league roster spot will be as a fourth or fifth outfielder who can provide a spark off the bench.

2022

Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 40 | Run: 70 | Arm: 50 | Field: 50 | Overall: 40

Signed in the 2019-20 international class for $350,000, Labrada made his debut among the Mariners’ Top 30 prospects for the first time in spring 2022 after wowing with his speed the season prior. Though the consensus is that Jonatan Clase might be the fastest player in Seattle’s system, Labrada led all Mariners Minor Leaguers with 32 stolen bases last year over 99 games.

At 5-foot-9 and 165 pounds, he may be short in stature but he packs physicality. He possesses a good, compact swing from the left side, but is certainly more of a hit-over-power prospect. With his glove, Labrada profiles in center field given that he has advanced range, great jump, and again, elite speed.

After graduating in 2021 from Low-A Modesto to High-A Everett, Labrada saw a dip in offensive production, but not an astronomical one. He still showed decent on-base skills and will continue to develop.
