Schlittler starred for three seasons at Northeastern before the Yankees selected him in the seventh round of the 2022 Draft. He dealt with some minor injuries during a so-so pro debut in 2023, but his pitch quality and results have been significantly better this year. He's making a run at the pitching triple crown in the High-A South Atlantic League.
Schlittler's fastball sits at 92-94 mph and touches 97 with high spin rates and a tough combination of carry and cutting action. His best offering is a tight mid-80s slider, and he'll also mix in a power curveball in the low 80s to give him a pitch with more depth. He lacks trust in his changeup, which is too firm in the upper 80s.
With a 6-foot-6 build, Schlittler creates natural extension and has the physicality desired for a starter. To remain in the rotation, he'll need to improve his changeup and his fringy control; if he can't, he'll be a two-pitch reliever with seventh-inning upside.
