Wilken was a slugging force during his days at Wake Forest, winning the 2021 Cape Cod League MVP and setting the ACC career record with 71 homers (31 of which came in his junior year). Milwaukee selected the hulking infielder 18th overall in 2023, signed him for $3.15 million and got aggressive with him in his first full season with an opening assignment to Double-A Biloxi. He was hit in the face by a fastball on April 11 in just his fifth game of 2024, missed roughly a month and never quite recovered in terms of results, finishing with a .199/.312/.363 line and 17 homers in 108 games with the Shuckers. A move to the Arizona Fall League, where he batted .155 with 32 strikeouts in 100 plate appearances, didn’t do much to end the year on a high note.

It's tough to balance the impact of the early-season HBP, as well as the move to the pitcher-friendly Southern League. Batting hunched over from the right side with a toe tap, the Demon Deacons legend is built to rip hard-hit balls in the air to the pullside, and he still has ample strength. His 17 homers were fourth-most in the SL, but he’s also proved to be extremely vulnerable to soft stuff low and away, and pitchers took advantage. To his credit, he'd done an impressive job of cutting down on his chase rate in a return to Biloxi in 2025 and looked to be pushing for a move to Triple-A before suffering a dislocated patella in his left knee.

A well-below-average runner, Wilken has been third-base-only in pro ball, and while he has ample arm strength for the hot corner, he still might be a better fit at first base long-term, given his range and 6-foot-4 frame. His early 2025 trajectory provided hope that he could still be valuable at either corner-infield spot when healthy.

A Cape Cod League MVP in 2021, Wilken set multiple home run records at Wake Forest and finished as both the Demon Deacons’ and ACC’s all-time leader with 71 long balls over his three years on campus. Thirty-one of those came in his junior campaign, placing him second in Division I. That helped push him into the first round to the Brewers with the 18th overall pick and he signed for $3.15 million. Wilken reached Double-A Biloxi in his first taste of the pros and finished with a .285/.414/.473 line with five homers over 47 games across three levels.

The right-handed slugger relies on the strength in his upper half to generate bat speed and loft that helps him send balls over fences in bunches. He can look almost hunched over the plate before ripping at the ball with a slight step as a lower load. Wilken’s swing decisions improved over his time at Wake, and while he’ll take his walks, the early strikeout concerns that emerged in college could return against more advanced pro arms, as they did in his small Double-A sample. 

Standing 6-foot-4, Wilken clocks in as a well-below-average runner. He can move around capably at the hot corner and has more than enough arm for the position, but his defense doesn’t figure to add much value to his overall profile. Given his size and speed, he might have to move across the diamond to first, where his power would still more than fit the bill.

Wilken burst onto the college baseball scene in 2021, setting a Wake Forest freshman record with 17 homers during the spring and winning Cape Cod League MVP honors during the summer. He encored by slamming 23 homers as a sophomore and breaking the school mark with 31 (second in NCAA Division I) this spring, also setting Demon Deacons and Atlantic Coast Conference records with 71 career blasts while burnishing his reputation for having as much raw power as anyone in his class. He fits the classic third-base profile with his pop and arm strength, and he worked his way into the first round with the Brewers before signing for $3.15 million.

Wilken is geared to crush balls to left field with the strength and leverage in his 6-foot-4 frame and the bat speed and loft in his right-handed stroke. His strikeout rate jumped in 2022, when he struggled with breaking balls in the zone, but he has made more contact this spring. He has shown a more disciplined approach, finishing third in D-I with 69 walks while making better swing decisions that allowed him to make the most of his prodigious power. 

Although Wilken is a well-below-average runner, he moves well enough to provide adequate defense at third base. His hands work fine at the hot corner, and his strong arm draws plus-plus grades from some evaluators. He caught in high school but is too big for the position in pro ball, leaving first base as his only realistic alternative to third.
