Rodriguez is one of the best pure hitters in the class.
The hit tool is advanced, and he looks mature beyond his years when he steps into the batter’s box. He has a real good feel for the strike zone. From his outstanding makeup and physical projection to his work ethic, it’s easy to see why scouts find Rodriguez an attractive prospect.
His tools are still developing, but that’s normal for prospects his age. What’s uncommon is how well he puts the bat on the ball consistently and with authority. There still room for more power and that could come as he develops and grows physically.
He will start in center field and should stay there as he develops.
Rodriguez trains with former Major League infielder Carlos Guillen. The Brewers have shown interest in him. Guillen is a member of MLB’s Trainer Partnership Program.

The Brewers have done well with top international signings in recent years. Jackson Chourio (2021) is the obvious example, as he’s climbed from the Dominican Summer League to become one of the best prospects in the sport, and Luis Lara (2022) took a similar path to reach High-A at just 18 years old. Fellow outfielder Rodriguez -- the top Milwaukee signing in 2023 at $1.5 million -- could follow in their tracks and in a few ways already has. He slashed .253/.393/.449 with six homers and more walks (41) than strikeouts (40) over 52 games in the DSL last season.
The left-handed slugger has already impressed Milwaukee officials with how easy he can make the game look, showing off above-average power without much effort or posting impressive sprint speeds without straining. His approach, as evidenced by the BB/K ratio, might be the most advanced part of his game as he doesn’t expand the zone often and shows solid bat-to-ball skills when he does swing. The raw pop is at least above average, but as Rodriguez’s swing stands, it results in more ground balls (44.9 percent) so elevation will be worth following as he matures.
Rodriguez’s speed makes him a solid fit in center field, and he has enough arm strength to play the corners -- an important quality considering Milwaukee’s organizational depth up the middle. There was some discussion about sending the then-17-year-old stateside for a late-season challenge in 2023, but that will come this summer instead as Rodriguez forges his own path in the Brewers’ fast lane.

Milwaukee’s greatest development success story of the last two years is Jackson Chourio, an internationally-signed shortstop-turned-center fielder who has blossomed into one of the best prospects in the sport. The Venezuela native is certainly a unique talent, but lessons learned from his path could be applied next by the Brewers with Rodriguez, the organization’s top international signing in the Jan. 15, 2023 class with a $1.5 million bonus after training with former Major League infielder Carlos Guillen.
The Dominican Republic native consistently impressed back home with a mature approach in the box through his unwillingness to expand the strike zone. He shows promising bat-to-ball skills, too, so passivity isn’t his only strength at the plate. Rodriguez already shows at least average in-game power, with more coming in BP settings, and there’s a belief that he could reach at least above-average pop as he matures into his 6-foot-1, 185-pound frame.
A good runner already, Rodriguez projects to stick in center field, which should up his ceiling and long-term value. With Chourio, Sal Frelick, Joey Wiemer and Garrett Mitchell all manning the grass at the upper levels, the Brewers shouldn’t feel like they need to rush Rodriguez toward the bigs. He’ll likely move as quickly as his bat can carry him, with Milwaukee giving him advanced assignments only when he’s earned them -- much like it did with Chourio in 2021 and 2022.
