Scouting Report

2026

Scouting grades: Hit: 45 | Power: 55 | Run: 40 | Arm: 55 | Field: 50 | Overall: 40

Soler was the D-backs’ third-largest signing in the 2023 international class when he joined the organization for $425,000 out of the Dominican Republic. He’s been solid at every stop since then, though he’s still searching for a true full season of Minor League success. Soler was slow out of the gate as a 19-year-old with Single-A Visalia but caught fire after May, hitting .278/.386/.494 with eight homers and a 143 wRC+ over his final 48 games with the Rawhide.

The right-handed slugger has a relaxed look in the box to the point where he’ll actually lay the bat down briefly on his back shoulder as he awaits the pitch from the mound. He’ll coil and get a leg kick going before unleashing his cuts. His strikeout rate has climbed about five percentage points per year, to the point where he fanned 22.3 percent of the time in the California League. Some of that is Soler’s willingness to jump on pitches outside the zone, leading to ground-ball contact, though he got a tad less aggressive during his hot streak. He has a compact build in his 5-foot-11 frame, and there’s already present strength there that could lead to 18-20 homers per year in the future if he can improve his angles off the bat.

Soler isn’t any kind of a stolen-base threat with below-average speed, but he’ll show in flashes that he has the right hands for third base, the only position he’s played in pro ball so far. His above-average arm strength certainly fits the position, but he’ll rush his whippy throws sometimes, leading to inaccuracy. Soler is entering his 20s in 2026, just as he’s putting together the sum of his pieces as a classic power-first corner infielder.

2025

Scouting grades: Hit: 45 | Power: 50 | Run: 40 | Arm: 55 | Field: 55 | Overall: 40

A $425,000 signing out of the Dominican Republic in 2023, Soler was the D-backs’ third-largest addition in that class in terms of bonus and has continued to carve out an impressive standing for himself in the organization. He was a solid performer in the Dominican Summer League in his first season with a 97 wRC+ in his first 37 games and took off more stateside last year. The third baseman hit .303/.351/.472 with six homers in 53 games in the Arizona Complex League in his age-18 campaign and even got in a pair of games with Single-A Visalia to round out 2024.

Soler looks relaxed from the right side of the box, lifts his lead leg a little and then relies on his hands to fire. It works because he’s able to manipulate the barrel well and put bat on ball consistently. His 17.2 percent strikeout rate in the ACL was solid for a player with his age and experience, though he did start to expand the zone much more than he had in the DSL. He’s already well built in his 5-foot-11 frame, and the raw power is above average. But he gets on top of the ball too often (50.3 percent ground-ball rate in the ACL), and he’ll continue to need to add lift to get to that pop.

Soler has been third base-only at this early stage in his career, and D-backs officials feel like he’s a good fit for the position with good reads and reactions off the bat and plenty of arm strength for throws across the diamond, despite below-average speed overall. He’ll head to full-season ball for a longer look in 2025 and to potentially solidify his standing in Arizona’s infield corps.

2024

Scouting grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 45 | Run: 40 | Arm: 55 | Field: 55 | Overall: 45

Arizona signed Soler for $425,000 out of the Dominican Republic at the opening of the 2023 international period, and the infielder got his career off to a solid start in the Dominican Summer League, hitting .252/.363/.358 with two homers, a 12.3 percent strikeout rate and a 97 wRC+ over 37 games. He moved stateside for the 2024 season and once again held his own, this time with a .303/.351/.472 line and six homers in 53 games in the Arizona Complex League. His 17.2 percent K rate was third-lowest among the 32 qualified players aged 18 or younger in the ACL.

Batting from the right side, Soler looks impressively relaxed in the box and shows good bat-to-ball skills at such an early stage in his career. He’s hit the ball on the ground a ton early on in his career -- around 50 percent of the time in both the DSL and ACL -- and while the D-backs were enthused by how he was starting to elevate more late in 2024, he’ll need to do that over a longer sample to project for average home-run pop. Soler already pulls the ball a decent amount, so some lift would go a long way toward adding even more extra-base hits.

Even though the 5-foot-11 infielder is a below-average runner, the D-backs are pleased with how he’s taken to third base in the pros, believing he has the actions and arm strength to stick there for the long term. Between his contact rates and defense, there is a solid foundation for Soler to enter full-season ball next summer and become a larger piece of Arizona’s impressive Minor League infield depth.
