Olejnik started his college career at Triton College in Illinois before heading to Oklahoma for his sophomore year. After pitching sparingly for the Sooners, he was on the move again, this time to Miami (Ohio), where he missed bats in a swingman/multi-inning reliever role. He threw really well over five starts in the Draft League in 2024, helping him land in the sixth round with the Angels, where he signed for a below-slot bonus of $197,500. He proved to be durable during his first full season of pro ball, amassing 128 2/3 innings with Single-A Inland Empire, capping things off with a playoff win.

The thing that stands out the most with Olejnik is his size, with the right-hander coming in at 6-foot-11. He does a solid job with his four-seam fastball, coming from a lower slot. He backs it up with a decent sweeper and a changeup, both of which can flash above-average at times. He needs tighter action to miss more bats on his breaking ball and his changeup needs more depth. There are some who feel the addition of a cutter and a two-seam fastball would help round out his repertoire.

For a guy his size, Olejnik does a decent job repeating his delivery and he tends to be around the zone. Timing up his mechanics will always be an issue, as they are for any super-tall pitcher. There are starter characteristics here, especially if Olejnik can get some more bat-missing action out of his secondary offerings.
