Miranda is a big-bodied infielder who has made a name for himself as a solid defender and hitter with lots of potential. Specifically, scouts note that the teen’s pitch recognition and composure on offense are advanced for a player his age. Overall, Miranda shows a good approach at the plate and a knack for managing the strike zone.
He’s displayed the ability to drive the ball to all fields and scouts have pointed out a significant uptick in his athleticism this year. Miranda continues to make strides as a third baseman, and there’s reason to believe he’ll remain at the hot corner as he progresses through the Minor Leagues. His arm strength is expected to improve as he matures and fills into his 6-foot-3 frame.
Miranda is trained by Enrique Soto in Bani, Dominican Republic.

The Tigers used nearly a quarter of their 2024 international bonus pool money when they signed Miranda (MLB Pipeline’s No. 46 prospect in the class) for $1,497,500 out of the Dominican Republic that January. Miranda had an odd first season in the Dominican Summer League in which more than half of his plate appearances ended in a walk or a strikeout, leading to a .177/.407/.306 line and 105 wRC+ in 22 games. He returned to the DSL as a 19-year-old this year after a delayed start and has looked much more like the player Detroit initially brought in.
The power is easily the trademark skill for the 6-foot-3 right-handed slugger. Miranda is a physical presence in the box, capable of rocketing the ball all over the diamond (though he’s pulling the ball even more in game action in 2025). The loudness of contact leads to oodles of extra-base hits already, and given his age, it’s at least plus-plus raw pop right now. Even with the improvements, he’s still struck out about a quarter of the time this summer, though the Tigers believe in the overall trend line.
Miranda owns above-average arm strength, which is helpful for third base, but he hasn’t played the field at all in 2025 due to a barking shoulder. Given his lack of range, he’s long been projected to move over to first long-term, and the pressure to hit there will be even more immense. Detroit plans to bring Miranda stateside in the offseason, get him fully healthy and guide him toward another breakout as he enters his 20s.

Miranda turned 18 on Feb. 23, making him the oldest member of MLB Pipeline’s Top 50 prospect ranking for the 2024 international class, but the age alone didn’t scare off the Tigers. Detroit signed the corner infielder for $1.5 million out of the Dominican Republic on Jan. 15, using almost a quarter of its $6.52 million pool to bring him in alone.
Checking in at a listed 6-foot-3, 225 pounds, the right-handed slugger is already a physical standout in the box, and that leads to impressive present power that could develop into at least plus pop down the line. He impressed evaluators with his pitch recognition, composure and all-fields approach before signing, and that gives hope that he could be an all-around offensive talent in time in the Detroit pipeline.
There were signs that Miranda’s athleticism is improving, but many believe he’ll still be a below-average runner in the end, especially if he continues to add even more heft as he matures. His improving arm strength gives him a shot to stick at third base, and the Tigers have every reason to give him a long leash at that corner to preserve his overall upside. Miranda might still need to move over to first base in the end, and if and when that happens, the pressure on his bat will only increase. But given his present and future skills at the dish, there is hope he could even clear that higher offensive bar.
