The Orioles were very college heavy in the 2024 Draft, with 18 of their 21 selections that July coming from that demographic. They did roll the dice on a few high schoolers, and if the early returns mean anything, they might have scored big in taking George from the Illinois prep ranks in the 16th round. A multi-sport standout in high school, George signed for an over-slot $455,000 to join the organization with plenty of raw tools and some questions about him hitting enough to get to them. Making his debut in the Florida Complex League in 2025, he started answering them emphatically with a .383/.451/.556 slash line over 23 games to earn a promotion to full-season Delmarva, where he kept on hitting.
George is a strong, compact and physical six-foot right-handed-hitting outfielder who oozes athleticism. He’s shown the ability to use his bat speed and strength to make a lot of loud contact. It’s more extra-base thump right now, but there’s plenty of raw power for him to tap into, though he can be a bit over-aggressive at times. There isn’t a ton of swing-and-miss in his game, but because he makes so much contact, he is a little prone to chasing pitches out of the zone.
An easily plus runner, George has the chance to wreak havoc on the basepaths, especially as he learns how to perfect the base-stealing craft. His speed helps him play a solid center field defensively, where he has a solid average arm. There’s a long way to go here, but George does have the chance to bring all five tools any diamond he steps on.
