After hitting .356 as a sophomore at Michigan State, Jebb had a breakout performance in the Cape Cod League. He finished second in the prestigious wood-bat summer circuit in hitting (.356), on-base percentage (.429), OPS (.919), runs (40), hits (53), RBI (22) and steals (26). He's on course to be the Spartans' earliest pick since Mark Mulder went No. 2 overall in 1998, though his numbers have been down a bit as a junior while he has tried to play through a wrist injury.
Jebb doesn't have the prettiest setup or swing, but he makes consistent line-drive contact with his compact left-handed stroke. He puts the bat on the ball almost too easily because it cuts into his walk totals, though he still profiles as an on-base guy who could hit atop a lineup. While not a slugger, he has at least average raw power, drives balls to the gaps and should be able to produce 12-15 homers annually.
Jebb has well above-average speed and is aggressive on the bases, enhancing his offensive game. He's a decent defender with average arm strength at shortstop and is destined to move to a different position in pro ball. He played primarily third base on the Cape but fits best at second base or shortstop.

Jebb really jumped on the map as a prospect as a sophomore at Michigan State in 2022, with a .959 OPS, then opened more eyes by hitting .356 with 26 steals in the Cape Cod League that summer. He battled through a wrist injury as a junior, showing enough for the Pirates to take him in the second round of the 2023 Draft and sign him for an under-slot $1.65 million. He had an uneven first full season of pro ball with High-A Greensboro, starting very slowly but then righting the ship, hitting .289 with a .372 on-base percentage and 27 steals from July 1 until the end of the season.
A left-handed hitter with a reputation as a contact hitter, Jebb may have let the hitting-friendly environs in Greensboro get in his head. He tried to muscle up too much, leading to a .564 OPS and a very uncharacteristic 26.3 percent strikeout rate over the season’s first two months. He started to find himself in June and then was scorching hot in July and August, getting back to his mature approach, trusting his ability to shoot the gaps with line drives and using his at least plus speed to wreak havoc on the basepaths. His K rate dropped to 13.2 percent from July on, and his walk rate shot back up as well.
A shortstop in college, Jebb is still getting time at the premium position, but he played more second base last year and got his feet wet in center field as well. He doesn’t pass the eye test to some on the infield, but the Pirates want to try to keep him on the dirt, though he’ll likely get more reps in center to see what that looks like.

Jebb was a starter for nearly all of his three years at Michigan State and though he had a huge sophomore season, finishing with a .959 OPS, it was really his performance in the Cape Cod League (.356, .919 OPS, 26 steals) that put him on the 2023 Draft map. His junior season wasn’t as impactful, as he played through a wrist injury, but he still managed to post a .933 OPS and land in the second round with the Pirates, who signed him for an under-slot $1.65 million. He showcased his best tools during his pro debut with full-season Bradenton.
The left-handed hitting Jebb is a master at controlling every at-bat. Though he doesn’t have the most conventional setup or swing, he makes a ton of line-drive contact and is quick to the ball. After striking out in fewer than 10 percent of his plate appearances in college, he kept it going over his first 34 professional games, with a 7.2 percent K rate. That might cut into his walk total, but he still draws a fair amount of free passes. Power is never going to be the focal point of his game, but he’s added some strength and should at least provide gap-to-gap extra-base impact.
An easily plus runner, Jebb likes to steal bags, which meshes nicely with his on-base skills as someone who could be a catalyst at the top of a lineup. The goal is to keep him in the middle of the field defensively and he’ll see most of his time on either side of second base in 2024. The Pirates will introduce center field as well, though they want to exhaust every opportunity on the dirt.
