Neville was a well-regarded toolsy outfield prospect in the Las Vegas high school ranks as the 2022 Draft approached. The former two-way player was just outside the top 100 of MLB Pipeline’s Top 250 that summer but headed to Arkansas rather than consider the Reds, who had taken him in Round 18. He transferred to Oregon for his sophomore season in 2024, playing all three outfield spots and showing off his raw power and considerable swing-and-miss. While he tied for the NCAA Division I lead with 26 homers as a junior, concerns about his hit tool led to him lasting until the Reds’ fourth-round pick.
Neville has long intrigued scouts with his overall athleticism and offensive potential from the left side of the plate, reminding some from his high school days of a young Cody Bellinger. The raw power is very real, and a year after hitting 16 homers with a 33.5 percent strikeout rate, Neville greatly cut down his swing-and-miss, allowing him to get to that pop even more consistently for that tie for the home run title. He can drive the ball gap-to-gap with plenty of pull power. He punishes fastballs and still struggles against softer stuff.
The fact that offensive profile comes in a player who looks like he can stick in center field gives Neville more upside. A year after playing all three spots, he manned center exclusively this past year, using his above-average speed and good reads -- not to mention a strong arm -- to look like a future up-the-middle player.

Much of the attention regarding high school bats in the Las Vegas area is centered around Carl Crawford’s son, Justin. But scouts would be remiss if they passed up Neville, another talented toolsy outfielder from the area who could give Basic High School its first draftee since right-hander Andrew Church was a second-round pick back in 2013.
Any evaluation of Neville centers around his premium athleticism. The left-handed center fielder reminds some of a young Cody Bellinger. He’s an easily plus runner who should be able to steal a base and cover a lot of ground in the outfield. At the plate, there’s some whip to his swing, which should generate power, especially as he adds strength to his 6-foot-3 frame, but there is some swing-and-miss to his game that concerns some scouts.
Most feel Neville, an Arkansas recruit, will be able to play center field for a long time and, as a former pitcher, has a plus arm from the outfield as well. Scouts have been watching his ability to make contact closely this spring, with he and Crawford possibly giving the Vegas high school scene a pair of early-round prospects for the second year in a row after Tyler Whitaker and Tanner McDougal went in the top five rounds in 2021.

He’s made some very good steps forward this spring, catapulting him back up onto the early-round Draft radar.

The raw power is very real, and a year after hitting 16 homers with a 33.5 percent strikeout rate, Neville has jumped up boards by greatly cutting down his swing-and-miss, allowing him to get to that pop even more consistently for the 26 homers that tied for the NCAA Division I home run title. He can drive the ball gap-to-gap with plenty of pull power. He punishes fastballs and still struggles against softer stuff, but scouts are much more bullish overall that the bat will play at the next level.

A year after playing all three spots, he’s manned center exclusively this year, using his above-average speed and good reads -- not to mention a strong arm -- to look like a future up-the-middle player who could go in the top few rounds.
