Scouting grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 50 | Run: 50 | Arm: 50 | Field: 55 | Overall: 55

Cova is among the best pure athletes in this class. The muscular infielder-turned-outfielder was initially showcased as a shortstop but didn’t separate from the pack. He made the move to the outfield and emerged as a prospect.

Despite being relatively new to the position, Cova takes good routes to fly balls and has shown solid range while patrolling center field. Overall, he sees the ball well, has good instincts and features emerging arm strength. Scouts love his makeup, tabbed him as a quick study and rave about his awareness.

At the plate, he is quick to the ball and, although there is an unorthodox hand load, it works well and produces hard-hit balls. He’s a mature and serious-minded prospect. Cova trains in Venezuela with Francisco Ortiz, a member of MLB’s Trainer Partnership Program.

2026

Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 50 | Run: 60 | Arm: 50 | Field: 55 | Overall: 40

The jewel of the Marlins' 2024 international signing class, Cova landed a $1.5 million bonus out of Venezuela as a remarkable athlete with standout speed. His introduction to pro ball was rocky with a .239/.376/.348 slash line in the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League, and he returned to the level in 2025. As concerning as it was that the Marlins did not promote him, another year of maturing paid massive dividends as he tied for third on the circuit in homers (nine) and posted a .959 OPS.

Cova added strength to his 6-foot-1 frame and loft to his swing in his return to the DSL, which enabled him to tap into his natural power more. The right-handed swinger still has a good knack for finding the barrel, even after trading some contact for impact. He walked nearly as much as he struck out and showed strong swing decisions. How his contact holds up after his first promotion will be key to watch.

Cova's renewed pop makes him a true 20/20 threat since he uses his plus speed well on the bases and isn't afraid to run aggressively. A converted infielder, he looks like a potentially plus center fielder with impressive speed underway and solid reads, and there could be untapped strength in his arm. Cova remains a toolsy prospect who has impressed with his maturity and ability to make adjustments.

2025

Scouting grades: Hit: 45 | Power: 50 | Run: 60 | Arm: 50 | Field: 55 | Overall: 40

As an amateur in Venezuela, Cova originally worked out for teams as a shortstop but didn't stand out until he moved to center field. He starred in center on his nation's 15-and-under World Cup team in 2022 and received the highest bonus ($1.5 million) in Miami's 2024 international class. After struggling in his pro debut last summer, he has looked much better in his return to the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League.

Cova has looked more confident at the plate in 2025 and is doing a better job of turning on pitches and driving them in the air. With his quick right-handed swing and projectable strength, he should develop at least average power. While he's not afraid to work counts and take walks, his strikeout rate has nearly doubled in his return to the DSL.

Cova has plus speed and likes to use it on the bases, giving him 20-20 upside. He has the quickness and instincts to remain in center field, and his average arm could get stronger as his body does. Scouts give him high marks for his intelligence and maturity.

2024

Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 45 | Run: 60 | Arm: 50 | Field: 55 | Overall: 40

Cova originally worked out for teams as a shortstop but didn't distinguish himself until he moved to center field. He starred in center on Venezuela's 15-and-under World Cup team in 2022 and became the headliner of the Marlins' 2024 international class. He signed in January for $1.4 million, the largest international bonus paid by Miami since it gave $3.5 million to Yiddi Cappe three years earlier.

Cova makes repeated contact with a quick right-handed stroke. While he's more geared to producing line drives, he has enough bat speed and room to add muscle to perhaps have average power once he's fully developed and learns to launch more balls in the air. His plus speed gives him 20-20 potential.

With his quickness and instincts, Cova should be able to remain in center field. His average arm could get stronger as he does, and he should provide enough offense to profile as a regular on a corner if he can't stick in center. Scouts praise his intelligence and maturity as well as his tools.
