Scouting Report

After two standout years at Iona, Ragsdale stayed in the northeast by transferring to Boston College for his junior year and continued to post solid numbers in the ACC, hitting .319/.418/.498 with five homers while setting a program record with 30 steals in 56 games. A similarly strong showing in the Cape Cod League helped his Draft stock, and the Brewers selected him in the seventh round in 2025, signing him for slightly below slot at $237,500. Ragsdale played for Single-A Carolina after going pro and has moved up to High-A Wisconsin for his first full season.

Standing 6-foot, the left-handed hitter has a minimal load in his lower half, lifting only his front heel to get going. Without that much complication, he’s generally on time for fastballs, including those with good velocity, though he’s proven beatable on heaters up and away from his body. He’s pretty choosy with his swings too, bordering on passive, and running deep counts has led to an elevated strikeout rate early at High-A, rather than any significant swing-and-miss issues. Ragsdale doesn’t possess much power, but he can run decent batting averages as he climbs via high BABIPs fueled by his plus-plus run tool.

The New Jersey native is a ready, willing and efficient basestealer -- a skill that’s carried over from college to pro ball -- and his impressive closing speed makes him a quality defensive outfielder despite limited arm strength. He’s had to move around the grass with Wisconsin in deference to Braylon Payne, but he should prove capable in center with more runway to playing time there. With his glove, wheels and enough of a lefty bat, he could be a future fourth outfielder in the bigs -- a solid return for his Draft position.
