With an uptick in velocity and stuff during his senior season, Slawinski displayed an exciting combination of projectability and polish to become the best pitching prospect in Texas (and one of the best prep lefties in the 2025 class). He was projected to go in the top two rounds, but landed in Round 3 to the Angels, who went way over slot with a $2.5 million bonus -- around Competitive Balance Round A money -- to sign him away from his Texas A&M commitment.
From the scouting department to player development, there is universal excitement about Slawinski’s upside and how he carries himself. The 6-foot-3 lefty finished his senior season with a fastball that sat in the 90-93 mph range and touched 95, and it plays up because of its ride and the extension in his delivery. He has two breaking pitches, with an upper-70s slider that has two-plane depth ahead of his mid-70s curve, which isn’t as consistent. He already has very good feel for his fading low-80s changeup.
As a four-sport standout in high school, Slawinski uses his athleticism on the mound to his advantage. He gets down the mound with ease and has a very good feel to pitch, with the ability to land all his offerings for strikes. Continued added strength will only help his stuff tick up, and going from a tiny school to pro instruction could help him eventually develop three plus pitches.

Johnson City HS, located in a tiny Texas town of 2,000 an hour west of Austin, had never produced a professional baseball player nor a single pick in the first 60 Drafts until Slawinski came around. His combination of projectability and polish made him one of the top prep left-handers available and the best pitching prospect in the Lone Star State. The Angels took him in the third round, and using some of their savings from Tyler Bremner’s deal, signed the southpaw for more than twice slot with a bonus of $2.5 million.
Slawinski currently deals at 90-93 mph and touches 95 with a fastball that plays better than its velocity thanks to its riding action and the quality extension he creates. He uses two different breaking balls, with his upper-70s slider flashing two-plane depth and showing the potential to become a plus offering with more consistency than his mid-70s curveball. He also exhibits nice feel for a low-80s changeup with significant fade.
A four-sport athlete (baseball, football, basketball, track), Slawinski gets down the mound exceptionally well with advanced control for a high schooler. He also was a talented left-handed hitter with plus speed, though his future unquestionably lies on the mound. Once he fills out his 6-foot-3 frame and benefits from the coaching and technology available in pro ball, he could have three plus pitches.

Johnson City HS, located in a tiny Texas town of 2,000 an hour west of Austin, never has produced a professional baseball player nor a single pick in the first 60 Drafts. That should change in July with Slawinski, whose combination of projectability and polish makes him one of the top prep left-handers available. He's easily the best pitching prospect in the Lone Star State and projects to go in the first two rounds.
