Scouting Report

2026

Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 45 | Run: 50 | Arm: 60 | Field: 50 | Overall: 40

Pinto joined the Tigers organization for $897,500 out of Venezuela in January 2024, making him the second-highest-paid international signing by Detroit in that year’s window behind only Nestor Miranda ($1,497,500). Pinto hit the ground running nicely with a .275/.403/.438 line and four homers in 53 games in the Dominican Summer League in his first season but was limited by a hamstring issue in his move stateside in 2025. He did finish his age-18 campaign with Single-A Lakeland, however, and has returned to the Florida State League with more sustained results this season.

A right-handed hitter, Pinto stays very much in control with the front side of his lower half, using just a toe tap to remain in rhythm and get himself in position to be short to the ball. He can kick out his back leg once he fires, and as a result, he has pushed the ball the other way a plurality of the time -- and on the ground the majority of the time at Single-A, to boot. Still, because of his quick movements, he has been among the FSL leaders in in-zone contact to begin 2026, and despite the subpar angles, his raw exit velocities have been solid too.

Pinto is just an average runner right now, and while he has enough instincts to track down balls in center, he seems likely headed to a corner long term once he shares the grass with speedier defenders. That said, his arm is an absolute hose both in terms of strength and accuracy and remains an asset from anywhere on the grass. Pinto would need to show better slugging ability to be an offensive fit in left or right, but he still has plenty of development ahead as he won’t turn 20 until March 2027.
