An immediate starter as a freshman at North Carolina State, Cozart earned All-America honors last spring after hitting 19 homers and leading the Wolfpack to the College World Series. The fourth catcher drafted in 2024, he signed for $2,050,000 as a second-round pick. He went just 5-for-42 (.119) in a 13-game pro debut in High-A, though he did throw out eight of 15 basestealers.

A left-handed hitter, Cozart works counts in search of pitches that he can drive. He's a potential 15-20 homer hitter whose power plays from left-center to the right-field line, though he generates it more with strength than bat speed. His swing can get long and he has difficulty barreling non-fastballs, so he'll have to prove he can do consistent damage against quality pitching.

Taller than most catchers at 6-foot-3, Cozart is an average receiver with good framing skills. While he'll flash solid pop times, his arm plays more as average. He's a baseclogger with well-below-average speed, though he moves well enough behind the plate.

North Carolina State has sent Andrew Knizner and Patrick Bailey to the big leagues in recent years, and Cozart is the next catcher in the Wolfpack pipeline. He starred during the Wolfpack's run to the 2024 College World Series and earned All-America honors after batting .305 with 19 homers as a junior. The fourth catcher selected in July, he signed for $2,050,000 as a second-round pick.

After struggling offensively as a freshman, Cozart is hitting the ball with more authority. He makes consistent contact and drives the ball in the air on a regular basis. He offers 20-homer potential from the left side of the plate and his pop plays from left-center to the right-field line, though it's the product more of strength than bat speed.  

Though he's bigger than most catchers at 6-foot-3, Cozart gets the job done as a receiver and has a knack for stealing strikes. He has average arm strength but will display solid pop times on occasion. A well-below-average runner, he'll slow further as he accrues more wear and tear behind the plate.

That alone should put him in the top two rounds, and he could go higher after starring during the Wolfpack's run to the College World Series.
