Scouting Report

2026

Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 50 | Run: 50 | Arm: 55 | Field: 55 | Overall: 40

Part of a deep Red Sox international class headlined by shortstop Dorian Soto, outfielder Harold Rivas and right-hander Sadbiel Delzine, Ramos signed for $500,000 out of the Dominican Republic. He offers an interesting combination of shortstop defense with unusual switch-hitting pop for the position. He batted .254/.384/.443 with four homers in 36 games during his pro debut in the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League.

Ramos hits the ball hard for a teenager and already shows feel for driving balls in the air to his pull side, so he could become a 20-homer threat once he adds more strength to his projectable 6-foot-1 frame. He has good hand-eye coordination, which allows him to turn his swing loose and still make consistent contact. In his first taste of pro ball, he displayed power from both sides of the plate but did a much better job of controlling the strike zone as a lefty.

Though Ramos possesses just average speed, he runs the bases well and plays a smooth shortstop. He has good actions, range to both sides, quick hands and a strong, accurate arm. Though it's possible he could slow a bit if he gains considerable muscle, Boston believes he's stay at short.
