The Reds have had success on the international market in recent years finding talent among five-figure signings, headlined by Elly De La Cruz. Jimenez looks to add to that collection after joining the organization in April 2024 for $82,500. After an impressive five-game showing in the Dominican Summer League later that year, the D.R. native got a full run through the circuit last season and posted an .819 OPS across 35 games. He played for the Sydney Blue Sox in the Australian Baseball League over the winter and hit four home runs with 18 RBIs across 38 contests while being nearly 6 years younger than the average competitor.
A right-handed hitter, Jimenez shows excellent athleticism in the box and a feel for extra-base pop, although it’s not appeared consistently during game action. There’s some length to his swing and he’ll need to become more selective after running a 25.9 percent strikeout rate (with just a 9.5 percent walk rate) during his extended look in the DSL. But when he squares the ball up, it can really jump off his bat. He posted a 29.2 percent line-drive rate in 2025, which ranked him fourth among all Reds Minor Leaguers with at least 100 plate appearances. As can often be the case at the lower levels, he’s a pull-side fiend with a 58.5 percent rate for his balls in play last year.
Jimenez played strictly shortstop during his time in Australia, but the Reds split his time almost 50/50 last year between there and the hot corner. With premier defensive shortstops at the lower levels like Liberts Aponte and Steele Hall, it’s likely that Jimenez moves around a bit, including seeing time at second base. He has average actions on the infield but a solid arm and quick first step, the latter evidenced his 16-for-17 mark on stolen-base attempts through his first 40 pro games.
