Rodriguez draws rave reviews from evaluators for his off-the-field acumen and ability to process information before applying it on the diamond. He trains with John Carmona at Academia La Javilla in Santo Domingo East (a member of the MLB Trainer Partnership Program), the same program that produced big leaguer Amed Rosario. At 5-foot-10, Rodriguez has a build on the stockier side, but that hasn’t sacrificed any of his athleticism.

Seen as a bat-first prospect at this stage of his development, Rodriguez deploys a pretty left-handed stroke with ample room for projection. He’s quick and short with his hands and arms, which when coupled with his plus approach, enables him to pepper the ball to all fields while also tapping into power that is just currently average, but has room to grow.

While he has spent most of his time fielding in center, he’s a bit more versatile than many in his class, having gotten reps at all three outfield spots along with second base. He sports a solid-to-average tool package when it comes to his work on the basepaths and with the mitt. But that versatility -- coupled with his advanced bat and plus makeup -- could allow him to move quickly through a pro system once he signs.

Rodriguez turned pro for $1,097,500 out of the Dominican Republic in January, receiving the largest bonus in the Rangers’ 2025 international class. They believe in his bat because of his long track record of performing in game action as an amateur. Though he’s a stocky 5-foot-10, he’s more athletic than he appears and also has a high baseball IQ.

Rodriguez’s short levers translate into a quick, compact left-handed stroke. He controls the strike zone exceptionally well for a 17-year-old and uses the entire field. His hitting ability stands out more than his raw power, but he projects to grow into 20-homer pop.

An average runner out of the batter’s box, Rodriguez plays quicker than that on the bases and in the field. Signed as a center fielder with fringy arm strength, he has the instincts to potentially stay there and also saw action at both outfield corners as well as second base as an amateur. Scouts praise his makeup and intelligence.
