Lewis was a model-based pick by the Yankees as a power-speed athlete out of Queens College, and he quickly exceeded expectations after signing for $150,000 in the 13th round of the 2024 Draft. While old for Single-A and High-A in his age-22 season last year, he slashed .237/.321/.445 (120 wRC+) with 22 homers and 26 steals between the two levels. The Marlins acquired him along with Brendan Jones, Juan Matheus and Dylan Jasso in January for Ryan Weathers.
Miami's front office was eager to add Lewis in no small part because of his power potential. The right-handed slugger produces top-of-the-line exit velocities, up to 113.9 mph last year, and has plenty of raw strength. That pop has come with swing-and-miss issues, which could be mitigated with better swing decisions. Lewis chased less as the 2025 season progressed, even against better competition, although some stiff swing mechanics make it likely that he'll maintain a below-average hit tool -- he's had particular struggles with in-zone contact.
Lewis is an elite athlete who has been caught just twice in 29 stolen-base attempts in pro ball. Defensively, he shows good burst and speed and has a chance to be an average center fielder or above average in a corner -- likely left since he doesn't have ideal arm strength for right. Lewis earns praise for his makeup and has been a quick learner in pro ball.

Lewis was one of two 20/20 players in NCAA Division I in 2024, when he hit a school-record 22 homers and stole 20 bases at Queens. A 13th-round pick that July by the Yankees, he went deep 22 times and swiped 26 bags between two Class A levels in his first full pro season. The Marlins acquired him along with three other prospects by shipping Ryan Weathers to New York in January.
A right-handed hitter with an upright stance, Lewis generates some of the best exit velocities in the system and attempts to maximize his at least plus raw power by looking to launch balls in the air to his pull side. His approach produces extra-base hits but also results in strikeouts. He does hang in well against breaking balls and changeups but will need to be more selective at higher levels.
Lewis has solid speed and plays quicker than that on the bases. He has divided his time among all three outfield positions in pro ball, getting as much time in center as he has on the corners. He's a decent center fielder but more effective on the corners, and his fringy arm strength may make him best suited for left field.
