Jordan is the latest in a line of Mississippi two-sport prep standouts that includes A.J. Brown and Jerrion Ealy, both of whom were drafted by baseball clubs before landing in the NFL. He's a three-star wide receiver recruit who has committed to play both football and baseball at Mississippi State, where he'd be Draft-eligible as a 21-year-old sophomore in 2024. Gatorade's state high school player of the year, he has the highest ceiling among Magnolia State prep position players, but it's unclear exactly where he'll fit in 2022 because of his lack of polish and his love for the gridiron.  

Solidly build at 6 feet and 215 pounds, Jordan features plenty of strength and electric bat speed, and he ranked among the national high school leaders with 16 homers in 34 games this year. After exhibiting an overly aggressive approach on the showcase circuit last summer, when he often looked lost against non-fastballs, he made some strides this spring. He toned down his right-handed swing a bit and stopped trying to yank everything out of the park. 

Jordan ran a 6.43-second 60-yard dash at the East Coast Pro showcase last August and plays more as a plus runner on the bases and in the outfield. Curiously, he manned right field rather than center at Jackson Academy this spring, though his quickness should work up the middle. He has the tools to become a solid defender in center once he refines his instincts, and his fringy arm strength is playable there.

One of the best prep athletes in the 2022 Draft, Jordan went unselected because he planned on playing baseball and football at Mississippi State. The three-star wide receiver recruit wound up giving up the gridiron and handled the rugged Southeastern Conference well, batting .336 and bashing 30 homers in two seasons. He has improved faster than scouts expected and could factor into the first round this July as a sophomore-eligible.

Jordan may have more bat speed than anyone in the 2024 Draft, and his lightning-fast right-handed swing and strength produce huge exit velocities and at least plus power to all fields. He made strides with his pitch recognition and plate discipline as a freshman, inspiring confidence that his pop will translate at higher levels. He still needs to prove he can make consistent contact, because he swings through fastballs and chases breaking balls, weaknesses that contributed to a 29 percent strikeout rate this spring. 

While Jordan has at least plus speed and may have plus-plus straight-line quickness, he's still learning how to make the most of it. He's not aggressive on the bases and is shaky in the outfield, where he spent most of his freshman year in left. His arm has gotten a little stronger since high school and now grades as average.

After forfeiting their 2024 second- and third-rounders to sign free agents Matt Chapman and Blake Snell, the Giants were thrilled to find Jordan available in the fourth round and paid him a well over-slot $1,997,500. 

Jordan may have had the quickest swing in the 2024 Draft, and his bat speed and strength produce high-end exit velocities and plus-plus raw power to all fields. He'll need to tame his right-handed swing and approach to make the most of his pop, because he swings through fastballs in the zone and chases breaking balls off the plate. While he did improve is pitch recognition and plate discipline during two seasons in college, he still struck out at a 27 percent clip. 

Jordan has at least plus baseball speed and may have double-plus straight-line quickness, but he's still figuring out how to use it. He's not aggressive on the bases -- he swiped just seven bags in two years at Mississippi State -- and has shaky instincts in the outfield. He spent most of his time with the Bulldogs on the outfield corners while improving his arm strength from fringy to average.
