Yeaman had no scholarship offers when he was done playing at Saugus High School in California, so he headed to junior college. He hit over .400 in two seasons at College of the Canyons, but he missed a ton of time because of repeated injuries to his non-throwing shoulder that required a pair of surgeries. Despite having only played 18 games in 2024, UC Irvine saw enough to offer him a spot for the 2025, and he's been the best hitter in the Anteaters lineup, vaulting him up Draft boards in a hurry.
Everywhere he's been as a college player, Yeaman has hit. He routinely finds the barrel, doesn't chase with impact-quality contact on pitches in the zone, especially against fastballs, and draws walks at a healthy clip. He can drive the ball to all fields with strength and bat speed, though his over-the-fence power has come mostly to his pull side. He's a fringe-average runner, with speed not a part of his game.
That lack of quickness likely means he won't be able to stick at shortstop at the next level, with range and an average arm just a bit shy for the premium position. A team taking him could send him out there, but there's likely going to be better options on any given roster, with a move to the right side of the infield as an offensive-minded second baseman a solid possible outcome.

After not being recruited during his high school career, Yeaman took the junior college route to play for College of the Canyons. Though he missed a lot of time over two years there because of multiple injuries and non-throwing shoulder surgeries, he did manage to hit .400 and showed enough in his limited time for UC Irvine to join the Anteaters lineup. He had a big 2025, finishing with an OPS over 1.000, and as college performers tend to do, he rushed up Draft boards. The Orioles took him in the fourth round and signed him for just over $600,000, sending him out to get his professional feet wet with Single-A Delmarva.
Yeaman brings a strong track record of hitting to the Orioles organization. He's adept at finding the barrel, doesn't chase and draws walks. He can really punish fastballs, and he puts up good in-zone contact numbers. There's some strength and bat speed, helping him drive the ball to all fields, with some home run juice to his pull side. He's a fringy runner who likely won't be a basestealing threat at the next level.
Because of that lack of speed, Yeaman's range is a bit shy for shortstop long term, and his average arm also could hold him back. He played more third than short during his brief debut with Delmarva. Carving out a career as a utility type might be the best outcome, though he could potentially be an offensive-minded second baseman should the O's shift him to the right side of the infield.
