Elk Grove in northern California has produced a fair amount of professional baseball talent, with eventual first rounders like Dylan Carlson and Nick Madrigal hailing from Elk Grove High School. While Davis attends Franklin High School, he does have the chance to be the next early-round pick from Elk Grove and the highest pick ever from Franklin.
Davis is a strong and athletic outfielder with a chance to hit. He has plus raw power from the left side of the plate and while his stock increased over the summer when he showed the ability to make consistent hard contact against top-level competition at multiple events with very quick hands and bat speed, concerns about his ability to hit enough to get to that power resurfaced early this spring. He can get out of sync at times and he'll have to show he can be consistently on time with his swing at the next level. Davis runs well and would be a good fit in right field at the next level with a cannon arm.
It will be Davis' bat that will be his carrying tool and will get him considered in the top few rounds of the Draft. The Arizona recruit should easily become the earliest-drafted Franklin High product ever, beating Josh Pigg, a 28th-round pick in 2012.

Davis was a Top 100 Draft prospect as the 2020 Draft approached but went unselected in the pandemic-shortened Draft and headed to honor his University of Arizona commitment. After playing sparingly as a freshman, Davis was a full-time starter in 2022 and slugged 18 homers and performed very well in postseason play. He spent the summer showing off his tools at Team USA trials and in the Cape Cod League before continuing his strong all-around performance as a junior back in Tucson.
Since his high school days, Davis has been known for his tremendous raw power from the left side of the plate. In 2022, the outfielder started to learn how to really tap into it. He has the ability to drive the ball to all fields, with plenty of opposite-field pop and a buggy whip of a swing. There is some swing-and-miss to his game, though he impressed scouts with a better approach in 2023, showing he can hit enough to get to that power.
A physical specimen, Davis has average speed to a tick above. He played left field for all of the 2022 season but played center on the Cape. Any team considering Davis in the top couple of rounds might want to send him out at center to see how he plays at the next level, knowing the power profile could fit back in an outfield corner.

Davis showed off monster power numbers in his final two seasons on campus at the University of Arizona, including a .742 slugging percentage and a 1.231 OPS as a Pac-12 All-Conference honoree in 2023. The Cardinals selected him 21st overall that July and signed him for slot at $3,618,200. St. Louis played it fairly passively with Davis out of the gate in 2024 with an assignment to Single-A Palm Beach, and he didn’t crack out of the level for 74 games, hitting .232/.337/.401 with eight homers in that span. He was much better after a late July promotion to High-A Peoria (.301/.388/.451 in 30 games) and even finished things out with a quick trip to Double-A Springfield.
The left-handed slugger worked through numerous swing and approach changes in his first full season but appears to be at his best with a swing that often draws comparisons to Carlos Gonzalez with his hands starting high near his head, his stance open and his front leg kicking to generate forward momentum. His raw power numbers are still clearly above average and he can pull the ball well, especially heaters. But soft stuff tailing away from him can be an issue when it comes to whiffs or quality contact. Even during the good times at High-A, he ran a 55.6 percent ground-ball rate, and he's continued to miss on a ton of offspeed pitches in 2025.
Davis gets most of his reps in center field, but with average speed and plus arm strength, he figures to land in a corner full time as he closes in on St. Louis. That puts added pressure on the raw power to come through in games, and with his whiff rates with Springfield, that's becoming a tall order.

After going undrafted in 2020, Davis hit 39 homers between his sophomore and junior years at Arizona, sandwiching those powerful performances between summer excursions in the Cape Cod League and at Team USA trials. A Pac-12 All-Conference member and tournament MVP, Davis led the conference with his .742 slugging percentage and 1.231 OPS in 2023. The Cardinals snagged him with the 21st overall pick and he signed for slot at $3,618,200. Davis slowed down post-Draft with a .212/.366/.269 line in 34 games with Single-A Palm Beach.
Putting that first pro stint aside, the left-handed slugger still stands out most for his impressive raw power that can play to all fields. It’s a fast, twitchy swing that often draws comparisons to Carlos González. He improved his approach as a junior in order to get to that power more, but swing-and-miss concerns remain, especially after that first trip through the Florida State League.
An average runner, Davis was pushed to left field with the Wildcats, but the Cardinals kept him exclusively in center after the Draft. His plus arm strength would certainly work in right too if he needs to move again, and his power-first profile fits either corner. The Cardinals like getting their outfielders versatility early and have moved Davis around the grass in his first full season.
