Video scouting report »

Scouting grades: Fastball: 70 | Slider: 60 | Cutter: 55 | Changeup: 55 | Control: 45 | Overall: 55

Signed for just $10,000 out of the Dominican Republic in February 2022, Lagrange began pushing his fastball into the upper 90s just four months later in the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League. After he topped the Rookie-level Florida Complex with 63 strikeouts in 41 2/3 innings during his 2023 U.S. debut, he missed most of the next season with back inflammation and couldn't throw strikes when he took the mound. But he bounced back in a big way last year, finishing third in the Minors in strikeouts (168 in 120 innings) and K percentage (33 percent) while reaching Double-A.

Lagrange stands out most with a fastball that parks at 97-99 mph and peaks at 103 with carry and armside run. But he's also capable of missing bats with three secondary pitches that can be devastating at times. He relies heavily on a sweeping mid-80s slider, though his upper-80s cutter and low-90s changeup with depth and fade actually were more effective in 2025.

Lagrange improved his fastball command as well as his overall control last season, though his walk rate jumped from 7 percent in High-A to 15 percent in Double-A. He's 6-foot-7 but doesn't create notable extension in his upright delivery, and he has such a quick arm and long limbs that he doesn't always keep them in sync. He has the stuff to pitch in the front of a rotation if he can continue to add polish.

2025

Scouting grades: Fastball: 70 | Slider: 60 | Cutter: 50 | Changeup: 50 | Control: 45 | Overall: 55

Four months after signing for just $10,000 out of the Dominican Republic in February 2022, Lagrange was unleashing upper-90s fastballs in the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League. He led the Rookie-level Florida Complex League with 63 strikeouts in 41 2/3 innings during his U.S. debut in 2023 but missed most of last season with back inflammation. He worked just 29 2/3 innings between Rookie ball, Single-A and the Arizona Fall League, hitting triple digits with his heater but also issuing 35 walks before finding the strike zone much more regularly in 2025.

Lagrange sits at 97-99 mph and reaches 102 with his fastball, and he's showing more consistent carry, armside run and command with his heater now that he's fully healthy. His sweeping 82-85 mph slider can be a well-above-average offering at its best and he's doing a better job of landing it for strikes this year. He also can turn his slider into an upper-80s cutter and has upgraded his feel for an upper-80s changeup with some fade and depth.

The 6-foot-7 Lagrange doesn't create much extension in his delivery but does work from a low three-quarters slot that provides a flat approach angle. He'll never have pinpoint control but he has improved his ability to locate his arsenal this year. He has the stuff to be a frontline starter or closer and is creating much more optimism that he'll be able to reach his lofty ceiling.

2024

Scouting grades: Fastball: 70 | Slider: 55 | Changeup: 40 | Control: 40 | Overall: 40

Signed for just $10,000 out of the Dominican Republic in February 2022, Lagrange was firing upper-90s fastballs in the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League just four months later. He continued to overpower hitters after coming to the United States last summer, leading the Rookie-level Florida Complex League with 63 strikeouts in 41 2/3 innings. He still needs a lot of polish and has missed much of 2024 with back inflammation, but few pitchers in the system have a bigger frame (6-foot-7) or ceiling.

Lagrange regularly operates at 94-97 mph and reaches triple digits with his fastball, more often working downhill with a heavy two-seamer then employing a riding four-seamer at the top of the zone. He can throw some plus sliders in the mid-80s, though it lacks consistent shape and power. He barely uses a mid-80s changeup that requires a lot more work.

Lagrange's size creates angle and extension that make life difficult for hitters, though he's still learning how to keep his long limbs in sync. He hasn't had to be precise to dominate Rookie ball but he'll need to significantly improve his control and command against better hitters. He has the upside of at least a mid-rotation starter and also could develop into a dynamic reliever.

2023

Scouting grades: Fastball: 70 | Slider: 55 | Changeup: 45 | Control: 45 | Overall: 40

Four months after signing for a mere $10,000 out of the Dominican Republic in February 2022, Lagrange was blowing up the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League with upper-90s fastballs. He continued to light up radar guns during his U.S. debut this summer, when he led the Rookie-level Florida Complex League with 63 strikeouts in 41 2/3 innings.

Lagrange sits at 94-97 mph and peaks at 100 with his fastball, usually working downhill with a heavy two-seamer and sometimes riding a four-seamer at the top of the strike zone. He'll flash a plus slider in the mid-80s, but he lacks consistent power and shape with the pitch. His mid-80s changeup is even more of a work in progress.

Lagrange has an electric arm but still requires a lot of polish. As a youngster with a 6-foot-7 frame, he's still learning how to coordinate his long limbs and repeat his delivery to throw strikes. His secondary pitches, control and command will require significant refinement if he's to remain a starter, though it's easy to envision him filling a high-leverage role in the bullpen.
