After helping host Mexico win a bronze medal at an 18-and under World Cup qualifier in November 2022, Gutierrez signed for $32,500 two months later. He batted .352 with a 12 percent strikeout rate in his first three pro seasons, though recurring back issues limited him to just 85 games. He was leading the Single-A California League in hitting (.351), on-base percentage (.445), runs (60) and hits (87) when his 2025 season ended after just 60 contests.
There aren't any holes in Gutierrez's compact left-handed stroke or his approach. He rarely chases pitches or misses when he does swing, hangs in well against southpaws and handles all types of offerings while using the entire field. He's not very physical and doesn't pull or lift many balls, so his power upside may be limited to 12-15 homers per year.
Gutierrez has solid speed and is an instinctive baserunner who swiped 38 bags in 42 attempts (90 percent) in his first three years as a pro. He may be quick enough to play center field, but he spent most of last season in right in deference to speedier Dakota Jordan. He has average arm strength and is a solid defender on the corners.

Gutierrez starred at an 18-and-under World Cup qualifier in November 2022 while helping host Mexico win a bronze medal, then signed with the Giants for $32,500 two months later. After recurring back issues limited him to 25 games in two Rookie-level leagues in his first two pro seasons, he has been running away with the Single-A California League batting title this season.
Employing a mature approach at the plate, Gutierrez rarely chases outside the strike zone and makes consistent contact to all fields. He has a smaller frame and doesn't turn on or lift many pitches, which does limit his power upside. He knows he's not a slugger, so he focuses on putting the ball in play with his compact left-handed stroke and getting on base.
Gutierrez has solid speed, gets out of the batter's box quickly and stands out with his instincts in all phases of the game. He has been a prolific basestealer against lower-level competition and makes good reads and routes in the outfield. Though he's a capable center fielder, he has played mostly right field this year in deference to speedier Dakota Jordan, and his average arm strength works on the corners.
