Eyanson served UC San Diego as a solid starter for two seasons before electing to transfer to LSU. He showed top-two-rounds potential last summer by working with a 93-97 mph fastball and a hammer curveball while with the U.S. collegiate national team and in the Cape Cod League. His stuff wasn't as sharp early in his junior season but he came on strong in the final two months to rank third in NCAA Division I in wins (12) and strikeouts (152 in 108 innings) and help the Tigers win the College World Series.

Eyanson's slider has become his best pitch during his first season in Baton Rouge, parking at 82-85 mph and eliciting empty swings in and out of the strike zone thanks to its tremendous depth. His upper-70s curveball has been solid but hasn't enticed hitters to chase nearly as much as his slide piece has. His fastball has operated at 92-94 mph and topped out at 98, though its lack of life can make it vulnerable if he doesn't locate it well.

Though Eyanson's low-80s changeup can miss bats with its fade and sink, he struggles to throw it for strikes. He's a good athlete with decent control but will nibble around the plate too much at times. He has a ceiling of a No. 3 starter if he can improve his fastball shape but also could wind up as a reliever who relies heavily on his breaking pitches.

Eyanson started slowly at Louisiana State last spring after transferring from UC San Diego, but his stuff and performance picked up in the final two months as he played a key role in the Tigers' national championship. He ranked third in NCAA Division I in both wins (12) and strikeouts (152 in 108 innings), saved LSU's clincher in the NCAA regionals and won the final games in the super regionals and College World Series. The Red Sox managed to slide him down to the third round, where they signed him for a nearly double-slot $1.75 million bonus, then saw his stuff make a huge jump during the first month of his pro debut in 2026.

Eyanson's best pitch is a tight mid-80s slider that beats up lefties and righties alike, and he can use it to get chases or swing and misses in the strike zone. His feel to spin extends to an upper-70s curveball with significant downer break that grades as a plus pitch at its best. He threw more breaking balls than fastballs last spring and has continued to do so this year, but his heater has gone from operating at 92-93 mph and touching 98 at LSU to parking at 95-96, touching 100 and showing improved carry in pro ball.

After barely utilizing a changeup at LSU, Eyanson has made some progress with a mid-80s splitter that he's still learning to land for strikes. He's athletic and fills the strike zone, and his immediate dominance earned him an early-May promotion to Double-A. He turned pro with the ceiling of a No. 3 starter and now looks like he can exceed that.
