Scouting Report

2026

Scouting grades: Fastball: 70 | Slider: 55 | Changeup: 40 | Control: 45 | Overall: 40

Facundo has worked just 148 innings in his first five years as a pro after signing for $20,000 out of Venezuela in May 2021. He missed all of 2022 with shoulder issues and had Tommy John surgery in May 2024. He may be worth the wait, however, because he's the rare left-hander who can reach triple digits with his fastball.

Coming back from his elbow reconstruction, Facundo threw harder than ever, working at 94-96 mph and touching 100 with his heater. He has more success with a two-seamer with sink because his four-seamer is fairly straight and doesn't miss many bats. His mid-80 slider lacks consistency but could become a solid offering with more development, while he barely uses a changeup that sits around 90 mph without much action.

Because he's currently a two-pitch guy who has yet to show any durability, Facundo projects more as a reliever than a starter. He works solely out of the stretch and with an upright delivery and three-quarters arm slot. The Yankees opted not to protect him on their 40-man roster this offseason, and his relative inexperience allowed him to sneak through the Rule 5 Draft without getting popped.
