The Brewers are the most productive organization at identifying, signing and developing young international talent, so when Frias joined the system as a $350,000 signee out of the Dominican Republic in January 2025, there should have been at least some intrigue about next steps for the outfielder. Frias was a solid performer in the Dominican Summer League with a .316/.411/.400 line and one homer over 27 games, prompting him to move stateside to the Arizona Complex League for his age-18 season this year.
Upon his arrival this spring, the right-handed-hitting Frias quickly impressed Brewers officials with both his current power production and future pop potential, and that’s carried into the season, with him recording Statcast-measured exit velocities as high as 117 mph. That would be at least plus-plus raw power already. Frias has also displayed some early bat-to-ball skills, but his swing can be a little flat, keeping his rockets lower to the ground than needed to drive huge homer totals. If he can elevate more, then this level of loud contact would make him one of the best sluggers in a deep Milwaukee farm system.
Frias doesn’t have the speed needed to play center field, with fellow 2025 signing Brailyn Antunez getting those looks instead. However, his arm strength makes him a perfect fit in right field, and he’s already proven capable of collecting outfield assists in bunches from out there. The slugging ability would slot in nicely in the corner, but with Frias still several years away, he still has much to prove that he can do more than light up Statcast tech.
