After one year at North Florida, Lodise entered the transfer portal when the Ospreys’ coach resigned and he then spent two years at Florida State. He had a respectable sophomore season but things really clicked as a junior following a productive summer in the Cape Cod League. The Seminoles’ captain was a Golden Spikes Award finalist, finishing with a .394/.462/.705 line. The Braves nabbed him in the second round of the 2025 Draft, where he signed for $1.3 million, a bit below slot, then went straight to High-A Rome to get in just over 100 at-bats in his pro debut.
Over his time in college, Lodise grew into being an impactful right-handed hitter, with added strength helping him get to consistent power and the ability to hit the ball out to all fields. One reason he didn’t make it to the first round was a concern about holes in his swing with a tendency to chase, especially when spin comes his way. His junior season was better, but there are swing-and-miss worries and he struck out more than 38 percent of the time in the small sample size of his pro debut.
An average runner, Lodise moves well enough to cover ground at shortstop. He’s good on the move and throwing from different angles, and the Braves felt his glove work was actually his carrying tool. That helps raise his floor, and if he can refine things at the plate to get to that impact on the pro side, he has the chance to grow into an everyday shortstop at the highest level.

Lodise began his college career at the University of North Florida and was the Ospreys’ starting shortstop right out of the gate, finishing with a .976 OPS and earning First Team All-Atlantic Sun honors as well as Collegiate Baseball freshman All-American honors as a result. He entered the transfer portal after UNF’s coach resigned and has spent the last two years as Florida State’s shortstop. He had a fair sophomore season, production-wise, but after swinging the bat well in the Cape Cod League last summer, the Seminoles’ captain turned in one of the best offensive seasons in all of Division I baseball and was a Golden Spikes Award finalist en route to being taken by the Braves in the second round and signing for a slightly below-slot bonus of $1.3 million.
More of a third baseman and pitcher in high school, Lodise has developed into a solid middle infielder prospect with some juice from the right side of the plate. He’s showing the ability to make a lot of impact, and added strength to his frame has helped him find more power with the ability to hit the ball out to all fields. Even with his incredible production, there are some holes in his swing, and he’s shown a tendency to chase, especially on breaking stuff, and while he improved from last year, there are still concerns with his strikeout rate.
More quick than fast, Lodise is an average runner who showed improved defense as a shortstop in college. He’ll sometimes struggle with the routine play, something that can be improved with more reps and instructions, but he’s very good on the move and throwing from different angles, giving him a good chance to stick at the premium position.

Even with some of the question marks, the production from a shortstop in the ACC like this will always help a player float up boards.
