Signed for $42,500 out of the Dominican Republic in 2024, Laroche pitched just three innings during his pro debut in the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League. He returned to the DSL last year and stood out with some of the best stuff in the circuit, posting a 2.11 ERA with a 34/6 K/BB ratio in 38 1/3 frames. He'll make his U.S. debut in 2026 and could push his way to full-season ball at the end of the summer.
LaRoche features an explosive sinker that operates at 93-95 mph and maxes out at 97, and he also uses a four-seam fastball with similar velocity and armside run. His tight 82-85 mph slider has the potential to become a solid offering. While he has yet to use it very often, he also shows some feel for a mid-80s changeup.
Though Laroche stands just 5-foot-11 and doesn't have a smooth delivery, he's very athletic and deceptive. He flies down the mound, producing plenty of extension for his size as well as a unusually low release height. He has no problem filling the strike zone but will need to refine his command as he climbs the ladder.
