Trainer JD Ozuna has a history of working with top international prospects, including Robert Puason in 2019 and Felnin Celesten in 2023, and 16-year-old Radney has joined that group. Lots of teams expressed interest in the highly projectable outfielder from the Dominican Republic, who reminds some evaluators of Julio Rodríguez.

Armed with a quiet approach at the dish, Radney keeps his hands close to his body and uses them to his benefit to help hit for both average and power. At just 176 pounds, Radney has room to add more muscle to his lean physique and further increase his extra-base hitting ability as he matures.

Radney will begin his pro career in center field, but could eventually shift to right as he grows into his 6-foot-1 frame. His plus arm strength and power profile could lead to an eventual corner slot as he moves up the ranks in the Minor Leagues.

2024

Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 55 | Run: 50 | Arm: 55 | Field: 50 | Overall: 45

The D-backs had a $7,114,800 bonus pool for the 2024 international window and used a sizable allotment to target two of MLB Pipeline’s Top 50 prospects in the class -- outfielder Belfi Rivera (No. 24) and Radney (No. 10). The higher ranked of the pair joined the organization for a $1.85 million bonus, just beating out Rivera’s $1.8 million mark to make him the official head of the D-backs' contingent.

Radney doesn’t turn 17 until June of his signing year but he already stands in at 6-foot-3. There’s a ton of room to fill in that frame -- his official weight after signing was 180 pounds -- and that level of projection is something that excites Arizona officials. Batting from the right side, Radney has a relatively quiet approach that helps him hit for average, but once more muscle comes, his slugging ability should hit another level.

The Dominican Republic native has solid speed for now, and it’s expected that he’ll get a good amount of center-field looks early in his career to keep that valuable lane open. His arm strength would certainly work in right field, however, should he need to move in deference to a better defender or if he loses a step, and the potential pop would play anywhere.
