Yeaman had no scholarship offers when he was done playing at Saugus High School in California, so he headed to junior college. He hit over .400 in two seasons at College of the Canyons, but he missed a ton of time because of repeated injuries to his non-throwing shoulder that required a pair of surgeries. Despite having only played 18 games in 2024, UC Irvine saw enough to offer him a spot for the 2025, and he's been the best hitter in the Anteaters lineup, vaulting him up Draft boards in a hurry.

Everywhere he's been as a college player, Yeaman has hit. He routinely finds the barrel, doesn't chase with impact-quality contact on pitches in the zone, especially against fastballs, and draws walks at a healthy clip. He can drive the ball to all fields with strength and bat speed, though his over-the-fence power has come mostly to his pull side. He's a fringe-average runner, with speed not a part of his game.

That lack of quickness likely means he won't be able to stick at shortstop at the next level, with range and an average arm just a bit shy for the premium position. A team taking him could send him out there, but there's likely going to be better options on any given roster, with a move to the right side of the infield as an offensive-minded second baseman a solid possible outcome.
