Scouting grades: Hit: 60 | Power: 40 | Run: 65 | Arm: 50 | Field: 50 | Overall: 50

After hitting .356 as a sophomore at Michigan State, Jebb had a breakout performance in the Cape Cod League. He finished second in the prestigious wood-bat summer circuit in hitting (.356), on-base percentage (.429), OPS (.919), runs (40), hits (53), RBI (22) and steals (26). He's on course to be the Spartans' earliest pick since Mark Mulder went No. 2 overall in 1998, though his numbers have been down a bit as a junior while he has tried to play through a wrist injury.

Jebb doesn't have the prettiest setup or swing, but he makes consistent line-drive contact with his compact left-handed stroke. He puts the bat on the ball almost too easily because it cuts into his walk totals, though he still profiles as an on-base guy who could hit atop a lineup. While not a slugger, he has at least average raw power, drives balls to the gaps and should be able to produce 12-15 homers annually.

Jebb has well above-average speed and is aggressive on the bases, enhancing his offensive game. He's a decent defender with average arm strength at shortstop and is destined to move to a different position in pro ball. He played primarily third base on the Cape but fits best at second base or shortstop.

2024

Scouting grades: Hit: 60 | Power: 40 | Run: 65 | Arm: 50 | Field: 50 | Overall: 50

Jebb was a starter for nearly all of his three years at Michigan State and though he had a huge sophomore season, finishing with a .959 OPS, it was really his performance in the Cape Cod League (.356, .919 OPS, 26 steals) that put him on the 2023 Draft map. His junior season wasn’t as impactful, as he played through a wrist injury, but he still managed to post a .933 OPS and land in the second round with the Pirates, who signed him for an under-slot $1.65 million. He showcased his best tools during his pro debut with full-season Bradenton.

The left-handed hitting Jebb is a master at controlling every at-bat. Though he doesn’t have the most conventional setup or swing, he makes a ton of line-drive contact and is quick to the ball. After striking out in fewer than 10 percent of his plate appearances in college, he kept it going over his first 34 professional games, with a 7.2 percent K rate. That might cut into his walk total, but he still draws a fair amount of free passes. Power is never going to be the focal point of his game, but he’s added some strength and should at least provide gap-to-gap extra-base impact.

An easily plus runner, Jebb likes to steal bags, which meshes nicely with his on-base skills as someone who could be a catalyst at the top of a lineup. The goal is to keep him in the middle of the field defensively and he’ll see most of his time on either side of second base in 2024. The Pirates will introduce center field as well, though they want to exhaust every opportunity on the dirt.

Jebb has well-above-average speed and is aggressive on the bases, enhancing his offensive game. He's a decent defender with average arm strength at shortstop, and while he began his pro career playing the premium position, many feel he’s destined to move to a different position in pro ball. He played primarily third base on the Cape, but second might be the best fit long-term.
