Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 40 | Run: 80 | Arm: 40 | Field: 70 | Overall: 55

The fastest player in the 2020 Draft, Bradfield could have gone in the top three rounds as a Florida high schooler if he hadn't been intent on attending Vanderbilt. He led NCAA Division I with 47 steals while winning Southeastern Conference freshman of the year honors in 2021, then finished second last season with 46 (in 46 attempts) and eighth this spring with 37. His speed and defense elicit repeated comparisons to Kenny Lofton, who won five stolen-base titles and three Gold Gloves, and he could become the Commodores' eighth top-10 pick in the last nine Drafts.

Bradfield has top-of-the-line speed and knows how to make the most of it. He's a disruptive force on the bases and an elite defender, maximizing his talents by working to refine his craft as a basestealer and center fielder. His quickness bolsters his on-base ability and helps him compensate for a below-average arm by allowing him to reach grounders in a hurry.

With game-changing speed and a slender frame, Bradfield understands what he needs to do on offense. He focuses on making contact with a flat left-handed swing, uses the entire field and excels at bunting for base hits. While he'll never be a slugger, he does have some sneaky pop to his pull side and swatted 14 homers the last two seasons after going deep just once as a freshman.

Few players possess a tool as elite as Bradfield’s speed, which would’ve made him the fastest player in the 2020 Draft class had he not been intent on attending Vanderbilt, where he racked up 130 steals in three college seasons. Bradfield is so fast that he routinely draws comparisons to Kenny Lofton, who won five stolen-base titles and four Gold Gloves, a skill set that compelled the Orioles to take him No. 17 overall in the 2023 Draft. Bradfield signed for a full-slot bonus of $4.17 million and then enjoyed a nice debut in pro ball, stealing 25 bases in 25 games and finishing the year at High-A Aberdeen as a 21-year-old.

Bradfield is flat-out disruptive on the basepaths, using his 80-grade speed to do things that few runners can. All those steals in college came with a 90.9 percent success rate, and he was only caught twice in 27 attempts during his pro debut. That speed also makes him an elite defender, enabling him to reach well-struck balls in the gaps that other outfielders wouldn’t and helping compensate for a below-average arm. His average hit tool plays up when he focuses on swinging at good angles and hitting line drives, and he makes up for little pop with polished on-base skills. Not only did he walk in nearly one-quarter of his plate appearances (and more than he struck out) in his debut, he did so while posting a staggeringly low 2 percent whiff rate.

With game-changing speed and a slender frame, Bradfield will never be a slugger. He profiles more as a traditional leadoff hitter, and perhaps a good one, with a flat left-handed swing, strong bunting skills, the ability to manage the strike zone well and excellent contact skills. His Gold Glove capabilities in center field give him one of the highest floors of any prospect in the Orioles system, with the ceiling of an elite table setter at the highest level.

Bradfield entered the summer showcase circuit a bit of a question mark. The American Heritage outfielder had missed a bulk of his junior season with a back injury, so there were questions to be answered. He started answering them with a strong showing in Major League Baseball's PDP League, and he picked up the first-ever hit in the MLB High School All-Star Game in Cleveland.

Bradfield's carrying tool is his top-of-the-scale speed and the left-handed hitter uses it to beat out infield ground balls and bunts for hits, to take extra bases regularly, to steal bases and to cover a ton of ground in center field. Bradfield knows his game is to see pitches, get on base, put the ball in play and let his legs do the rest as a kind of old school leadoff type hitter. There isn't much power to speak of, though he did drive the ball a bit during PDP League play. There is no question he'll play center field for a long time with an average arm and plus range. He is a fundamentally sound player with plus makeup.

Bradfield can be a bit of a polarizing prospect because of a lack of physicality and questions over his ability to add strength. Some see a future Juan Pierre or even Kenny Lofton type, a guy who can sit atop a big league lineup for a long time. Others see more of a Derrick Robinson type, a speedster who never really hit enough to stick. A team will have to believe he fits the former description in order to sign him away from his commitment to Vanderbilt.
