Draft picks taken after the 10th round are automatically assigned a slot value of $150,000. When a college senior gets taken in Round 11, as Clohisy was out of St. Louis in 2024, and signs for that exact slot amount, it tends to fly under the radar. But when that senior plays his way from High-A to Double-A in his first full season and finishes third among all Minor Leaguers with 79 steals before stealing 22 more to lead the Arizona Fall League, as Clohisy did in 2025, folks tend to sit up and take notice.
Clohisy’s future in the big leagues is directly connected to his legs. In 2025, regular season and AFL combined, he stole 101 bases in 120 attempts (84.2 percent success rate) in 152 games. Not only does he have great speed, he’s aggressive in using it, wreaking havoc at all times. His wheels also help him cover a ton of ground in the outfield. He can no doubt play center field, but has and will continue to get time in all three spots.
That’s important because his future role would be as a fourth or fifth outfielder if it all clicks. And that will depend on how the left-handed hitter swings the bat. There is a little extra-base ability, but his job will always be to put the ball in play and get on base, and it will be interesting to see whether he can carry over the offensive success he had in Double-A and Arizona to lift him up to Atlanta.
