On a yearly basis, Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, produces high-octane talent on the international market. Brito is a member of that group in 2026, an uber-athletic player who has improved his all-around game significantly in the past few years. He trains with Angel Valladares at VIP Baseball Academy in Palenque, a member of MLB’s Trainer Partnership Program, and will be just 17 years old for the entirety of his first professional season.

Brito has a really strong understanding of the strike zone, which when coupled with his quiet hands and plus bat speed, allows him to consistently generate loud contact. A right-handed hitter, he has routinely been ripping off triple-digit exit velocities over the past year and has begun to grow into some strength as his frame fills out. He utilizes a short stride at the dish but is still able to get to his power, which should only continue to come as he garners more in-game reps.

Quick actions and smooth hands work in Brito’s favor as an up-the-middle defender. Some evaluators believe that even if he’s forced off the premium spot of shortstop, he would transition well to the outfield where his long strides would work in his favor. Brito has the build and look of a potential five-tool prospect, upside he will look to capitalize upon as he gets his pro career under way.

The Red Sox handed seven-figure bonuses to two members of their 2026 international class, $1.4 million to outfielder Garielvin Silverio and $1.2 million to Brito. The latter has a similar package of tools to fellow Dominican shortstop Hector Ramos, one of the standouts from Boston's 2025 international crop. Brito will make his pro debut in the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League at age 17.

Scouts are split as to whether Brito is a better bet to hit for average or power, and he may do both. He has a quick right-handed stroke and hits the ball harder than most player his age, which could portend 20-homer power as he matures physically. He doesn't try to do too much at the plate and shows promising feel for the strike zone.

A twitchy athlete with a projectable 6-foot-1 frame, Brito features solid speed and moves well to both sides at shortstop. His quick hands help him make plays at short, though his arm is merely average now and will need to get stronger in order for him to remain there. If he has to move, second base and center field are potential options.
