Caracas, the capital city of Venezuela, has produced more than 70 big leaguers throughout history, namely 11-time Gold Glove shortstop Omar Vizquel. Brayan Rocchio is a more recent product, with Frontado looking to follow in those footsteps as an impactful hitter with a smooth glove that can quickly move through a club’s system. He’ll be just 17 for the entirety of his first pro campaign, which when combined with a skill set he has refined over the years at HYL Baseball Academy in his home nation, gives Frontado an exciting package to work with as his pro career begins.

It all begins with Frontado’s hit tool. He has the type of whippy swing and follow through that consistently produces loud contact and allows him to pepper the ball to all fields. He’s presently still growing into power but the innate traits of his swing mechanics help evaluators feel confident he’ll get to more of it as he fills out and continues to pack on muscle. He utilizes his lower half well in the box, all while showcasing a blend between tools and in-game results. 

Where Frontado’s biggest improvements have come is with the glove. His actions have smoothed out over the years and scouts believe he’s a sure bet to stick at the six as he enters a pro environment. While he likely won’t need to steal a ton of bases to impact the game, Frontado can scoot, with 60-yard dash times clocked as quick as 6.6 seconds.

The Brewers are among the best in baseball at scouting and developing international players, and that’s especially true in Venezuela, the homeland of young star Jackson Chourio as well as current prospects Jeferson Quero and Luis Lara. Milwaukee went back to the South American country for its biggest international signing in 2026, bringing in Frontado (MLB Pipeline’s No. 24 prospect in the class) for $1.6 million in January.

At the open of the 2026 signing window, Brewers director of international scouting and player personnel Taylor Green described Frontado as “an all-around player with tools,” and the scouting report backs it up. His whippy right-handed swing helps him create loud contact to all fields, and his approach is solid for his age. There should still be more power coming as he grows into his 6-foot frame.

Frontado’s improved actions at shortstop will get him plenty of chances at the premium position as he enters the Milwaukee system, and as a possible above-average runner, he has enough athleticism for the spot to boot. The Brewers boasted another deep international class this year, but Frontado’s name comes up most in terms of excitement about how he can take off under the organization’s guidance. That’s telling for a system that has launched the careers of Chourio, Jesús Made and Luis Peña.
