Ask anyone who has traveled to the Dominican Republic about La Romana and you’ll often hear about the beaches. But the city in the southeastern portion of the country is also a hotbed for baseball talent with big leaguers like Edwin Encarnación and Freddy Garcia having been born there. Moneys is a strong-bodied La Romana native who moved to Santo Domingo to train with the renowned John Carmona at Academia La Javilla, a member of MLB’s Trainer Partnership Program.

There’s a direct up arrow next to Moneys’ all-around stock. He plays the game with a high intensity and has a record of in-game production that backs up scouts’ belief he’ll hit for even more power as he continues to get more reps. A right-handed hitter with lots of bat speed, he puts together competitive at-bats consistently and can produce moonshots when he runs into them, something of a rarity for teenagers on the international scene. Moneys led the Amateur Scouting League with three home runs in seven games en route to earning MVP honors, posting a 1.723 OPS and 7/1 BB/K ratio in the process.

While there’s no question the offensive upside is the draw, Moneys has great hands that he uses to his benefit while holding down shortstop. He makes all of the routine plays and has a solid-to-average arm that’s accurate more than it’s powerful. A move off the premium position may be necessitated as he moves up an organization’s ladder, but evaluators point to his competitiveness as a major sticking point in his favor.

The Brewers’ success in scouting and developing international talent has become a well-documented story across the industry, and it was certainly notable when the organization signed three of MLB Pipeline’s Top 50 international prospects at the opening of the 2026 window in January. At No. 20, Moneys was the highest-ranked of the three, ahead of No. 24 Diego Frontado and No. 49 José Rodríguez, but signed the third-highest bonus of the group at $1.15 million. The Dominican Republic native has opened his Minor League career in the Dominican Summer League, where he’s met much of the pre-signing hype.

Moneys’ power is easily his calling card. The right-handed slugger bats from an open stance with his hands above his head and closes in on the ball to find the barrel with vicious bat speed. He’s been able to pull his hands in quickly to pounce on balls on the inner half and generate special exit velocities for his age. To wit as of July 3, he owned a 106.9 mph 90th percentile exit velocity that would have put him in the same territory as Bryce Eldridge, Juan Soto and Ronald Acuña Jr. in the Majors (albeit against much lesser competition). His rip-it style hasn’t led to many strikeouts just yet, and he could handle some swing-and-miss at the upper levels if he continues making such loud contact. 

Considered just an average runner, Moneys was signed as a shortstop but has already seen some time at third base at this early stage. He has the hands and arm strength for either spot, though it’s better for his stock if he can stick at the six for as long as possible. Wherever he lands, Moneys already has the makings of Milwaukee’s next infield masher.
