After signing for $30,000 out of the Dominican Republic, Arana has quickly emerged as the Marlins' top hitting prospect from the 2025 international class. It's no small feat that the converted outfielder took to the left side of the infield well in his debut season and made quick work of the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League. Across 52 games, he hit .297/.419/.476 with nearly twice as many walks (30) as strikeouts (18) and impressive underlying data.
Arana uses a pronounced toe tap to time up pitches well and has outstanding contact skills from both sides of the plate. He has displayed strong swing decisions, and although more passive approaches can lead to plenty of walks in the DSL, he rarely whiffs, which portends continued strong results against more advanced pitching. Currently stronger from the left side, Arana hasn't shown a ton of pop to date but added almost 10 pounds in the offseason and could tap further into his power if he pulls the ball in the air more.
Arana is a twitchy athlete who aggressively uses his plus speed on the bases, and a refined approach should help with his efficiency. He covers ground well at short and third base and should have plenty of arm for either position. If he continues to add weight, his bat should profile on the left side. If he remains more nimble, it's not out of the question that he could also play second base or center field.

Originally scouted as a center fielder, Arana moved to shortstop before signing out of Venezuela for $30,000 in 2025. He put together an impressive pro debut in the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League, batting .297/.419/.476 with 19 extra-base hits and 29 steals in 52 games. He ranked 10th in the DSL in strikeout rate (8 percent) and swinging-strike rate (6 percent).
A switch-hitter who was more productive from the left side in the DSL, Arana already displays some of the best bat-to-ball skills in the system at age 17. He makes good swing decisions and shows some aptitude for drawing walks. He needs to add strength to his 5-foot-10 frame because he doesn't hit balls particularly hard or pull them very often, but youth is on his side.
Arana possesses plus speed and is aggressive on the bases. He spent his first pro summer dividing his time between shortstop and third base, and his plus arm fits well at either spot. Like a lot of young players, he needs more defensive consistency but projects as at least an average defender at short and solid at the hot corner.
