Scouting Report

2026

Scouting grades: Hit: 45 | Power: 45 | Run: 60 | Arm: 55 | Field: 50 | Overall: 40

Coming out of the Dominican Republic, De Los Santos signed with the Tigers for $387,500 in January 2025, earning the sixth-highest bonus from any international player Detroit signed in last year’s window. His .370/.465/.543 line and 148 wRC+ over 29 games in the Dominican Summer League certainly placed him on the radar after his first season, and he continued to produce stateside this summer with a .302/.373/.475 line and six homers in 51 games in the Florida Complex League. The Tigers promoted the 18-year-old to Single-A Lakeland in late July.

Listed at 6-foot-1, De Los Santos still has a very wiry frame with ample room to add strength as he heads toward his 20s. That’s promising because as things stand, his exit velocities haven’t quite popped in that first taste of stateside ball. It’s still possible he gets to be a future 15-18-homer hitter with the right amount of physical development. He also dips his front shoulder back from the right side of the box before unleashing healthy cuts, though he can be late on good velocity. He’s also aggressive at the dish, and that will need reeling in.

De Los Santos has already crossed 30 ft/sec Sprint Speeds at a decent clip in front of Statcast in Florida, and even if he slows a touch with physical maturity, his speed should still be an asset. It’s that type of athleticism that the Tigers have wanted up the middle, and they’ve given De Los Santos looks at both shortstop and second base early on. He has the arm strength for third base too, if roster needs require a move over to the corner.
