Guárico, Venezuela, has produced just one big league player -- left-handed pitcher Wilfredo Ledezma -- but the early hype surrounding Bautista, nicknamed “La Bestia” (The Beast) for his exploits in tournaments vs. older competition, has him on a path toward being one of the biggest signings out of the country in recent years. The ceiling of his overall package is one of the highest in the 2025 class with loud tools across the board. He trains with Dennis Suárez at Academia DS in Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela.

Equipped with a slightly unorthodox swing in which he rests the bat on his back shoulder until he strides forward, the left-handed hitter has routinely showcased elite bat speed and raw power in front of evaluators. Some say it’s the best they’ve seen on the international scene in half a decade. That double-plus power coming from his 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame bodes well as he continues to gain experience and in-game reps.

Bautista’s strength pops at the dish and so does his throwing arm from the outfield. Boasting one of the strongest arms in the class, he backs that up with a plus glove. While the offensive profile may eventually lead to a corner outfield spot (likely right due to the arm strength), he will likely see some time in center as his pro career gets underway. Backing that up is the fact that he’s also an impressive runner who has been clocked at 6.4 seconds in 60-yard dash times.

The Mariners are no strangers to landing big-time players on the international market, from Julio Rodríguez in 2017 to Noelvi Marte the year after that, not to mention Top 100 prospects Lazaro Montes (2022) and Felnin Celesten (2023). The Mariners are trying not to be too excited about Bautista, the No. 6 prospect on the 2025 Top 50 International Prospects list, the Venezuelan outfielder they signed for $2.1 million. Nicknamed "La Bestia" (The Beast), he has as loud of tools as just about anyone in the class.

A left-handed hitter and thrower, Bautista utilizes an unusual swing and set up, resting his bat on his back shoulder until he strides forward. It's worked for him so far, with elite bat speed and double-plus raw power that he'll be able to continue to get to consistently as he gets more reps.

Bautista's arm strength matches his power as one of the strongest in the class. He has the chance to be a plus defender, and he should get the chance to play center field with his plus speed as he gets his pro career underway this summer. He could end up in right field -- his arm and power bat certainly fit there, eventually, but they also said the same thing once about Rodríguez.
