Scouting Report

2026

Scouting grades: Fastball: 55 | Slider: 55 | Changeup: 50 | Control: 50 | Overall: 40

De la Rosa signed with the Yankees out of the Dominican Republic for $400,000 last April, receiving the third-highest bonus given to any left-hander on the 2025 international market. He quickly stood out with his stuff and strikes during his pro debut in the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League, drawing immediate trade interest. Three months after he turned pro, the Giants acquired him in a four-prospect package in exchange for Camilo Doval.

De la Rosa works with a 92-94 mph fastball that reaches 96 with significant carry as well as armside run. Both of his secondary pitches also show promise. He throws both a tight slider and a sweepier version in the low 80s, and his fading changeup is a tick harder.

While De La Rosa has three legitimate pitches and posted a 7 percent walk rate in his first taste of pro ball, there are questions about his ability to remain a starter in the long run. He's undersized and works uphill with some funk in his arm action, though his delivery provides deception without costing him control. If he does land in the bullpen, he has the upside to work in a late-inning role.

2025

Scouting grades: Fastball: 55 | Slider: 50 | Changeup: 55 | Control: 50 | Overall: 40

De La Rosa received the third-highest bonus given to a left-hander in the 2025 international class, signing with the Yankees for $400,000 in April. He impressed scouts in other organizations with his stuff and strike-throwing during his pro debut in the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League. The Giants acquired him as one of four prospects in exchange for Camilo Doval at the Trade Deadline.

Just 17 years old, De La Rosa already works with a 92-94 mph fastball that touches 96 and features good carry and armside run. He also shows feel for an 83-85 mph changeup with the potential to become a plus offering. He uses both a tight slider and a sweepier version, both of which sit in the low 80s.

Though he's undersized at 5-foot-11 and 178 pounds, De La Rosa generates his stuff with a quick arm rather than effort. He will need to clean up his delivery because he works uphill with a funky arm action, though it provides deception without costing him control. He'll require time to develop but has the stuff to become a big league starter.
