Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 50 | Run: 55 | Arm: 55 | Field: 50 | Overall: 50

Beltre is a powerful athlete with an aggressive approach at the plate and could one day sport plus tools across the board. He has the ability to become a plus runner with plus arm strength in the future, which both work to his advantage in the outfield. He’s known as a reliable center fielder who takes good routes and has good instincts with solid throwing mechanics. There’s a chance he could move to right in the future if he outgrows center.

Offensively, there is some swing-and-miss, but that’s normal for an international prospect his age. In the meantime, his ability to routinely make contact and drive the ball hard to all fields should set him up for plenty of future success. Beltre also has the speed to be a factor on the basepaths, making him an even more attractive prospect.

The teen trains in the Dominican Republic with Hector Evertz, a member of MLB’s Trainer Partnership Program.

2024

Scouting grades: Hit: 45 | Power: 55 | Run: 50 | Arm: 55 | Field: 50 | Overall: 40

The Twins went aggressively after high-end talent at the start of the 2024 international signing period, signing a pair of players from MLB Pipeline’s Top 50 International Prospects list. Daiber De Los Santos got just shy of $1.9 million and Beltre received just under $1.5 million. Both got started in the Dominican Summer League, and after shaking off a wrist injury, it was Beltre who jumped to the fore with a strong debut.

A compact and strong right-handed bat, Beltre is an aggressive hitter who did a nice job of drawing walks to offset some of the swing-and-miss in his game during his debut. He can make hard contact to all fields, and his power was already showing up in the DSL. He’s an average runner.

While Beltre has seen time at all three outfield positions and does have some athletic attributes, he seems destined to man a corner spot long-term as he matures. He has plenty of arm strength for right, and if he can keep refining his approach, he could get to his power enough to profile there as well in the future.
