It’s difficult to say whether Sanchez will be a better hitter or defender at this point, but the tools stand out on both ends and scouts love his potential. As a defender, Sanchez displays a strong and accurate arm. His defensive actions in the field are easy and fluid. He also has soft hands and shows good footwork.

At the plate, Sanchez has already shown signs of power, especially to the pull side. As he continues to grow and mature, there is reason to believe that more raw power is on the way. His pitch recognition is advanced for his age, and overall, he projects to be a solid hitter and offensive force in the lineup.

Ranked No. 30 on MLB Pipeline’s 2024 Top 50 International Prospects list, Sanchez trained with Los Bautys in the Dominican Republic en route to signing for $1.3 million this past January, the largest bonus handed out by the Orioles in the 2024 signing period. He got his professional feet wet after playing in the Dominican Summer League.

An athletic left-handed hitter, Sanchez has the chance to be solid all-around in the box. He has advanced pitch recognition for his age, already showing plus plate discipline in his pro debut while limiting his swing-and-miss. As he continues to improve his swing and ability to find the barrel, he should develop more impact -- especially as he adds strength, already showing signs of raw power, particularly to his pull side.

Sanchez runs well and has already shown a penchant for stealing bags. His athleticism also shows up defensively, where he has the actions, range and arm to potentially stick at shortstop. He’s seen some time at third as well, which could be useful if he matures out of the premium position.
