Feliz is a 6-foot-3 infielder with a large, lean athletic frame. The 17-year-old trains in the Dominican Republic with Raul “Banana” Valera, who also worked with Top 50 international prospect Andy Acevedo, a member of Washington’s 2022 international signing class and Dominican Summer League club in 2023. There is room for Feliz to continue filling out physically, and he is expected to add strength as he matures and his body develops. He will also benefit from daily instruction in a team’s academy once he signs and starts his journey through an organization.

Advanced bat speed and pull-side power are the tenants of Feliz’s offensive approach, as his swing stays long through the zone. Armed with a solid approach and good timing -- along with solid physical tools -- there is expectation that Feliz could become an impactful contributor as he hones his game.

A gamer, Feliz has been praised for his baseball IQ and makeup.

Feliz was ranked as MLB Pipeline’s No. 24 international prospect in the 2024 class and signed with the Nationals for $1.8 million that January. Only outfielder Victor Hurtado ($2.7 million) signed for more. Feliz was a Dominican Summer League mid-season All-Star in his first taste of the pros after hitting .310/.381/.468 with four homers and 27 steals in 49 games and handled himself decently well with his move stateside for his age-18 season in 2025. The infielder produced a .264/.366/.358 line in 53 games in the Florida Complex League and produced a 96 wRC+ with Single-A Fredericksburg following a late July promotion.

It was notable that Feliz was one of only 30 age-18 prospects to get more than 100 plate appearances in Single-A last season and the only Washington player to meet that criteria. Already standing at 6-foot-3, there’s hope that he can add some strength to that frame and get to at least average power, but to do that, he’ll have to lift the ball at a much better rate. He doesn’t chase pitches outside the zone much for his age, but when he does, it’s often with an empty swing, especially against soft stuff. Starting with his hands held above his head, he can yank over breaking pitches beyond the outer third of the plate right now, but it’s still plenty early in his development cycle.

Feliz will flash decent home-to-first times when he’s really pushing it out of the box, but many expect him to land at fringy speed at best by the time he fills out. He isn’t the twitchiest defender, though Nats officials have praised him for his hands on the dirt and arm strength. With Eli Willits likely in his path, Feliz remains a priority infielder, albeit one likely to move to third long-term.

The Nationals went for two of MLB Pipeline’s Top 25 international prospects in the 2024 signing class, adding Dominican outfielder Victor Hurtado for $2.8 million and Feliz for $1.8 million out of the same country. The young shortstop was the better performer out of the gate in the Dominican Summer League, hitting .310/.381/.468 with four homers and 27 steals in 49 games. He led qualified DSL Nats in average, slugging, isolated slugging (.158), hits (53) and doubles (nines) and tied for the lead in homers on his way to mid-season All-Star honors.

At 6-foot-3 already so early in his development cycle, Feliz drew excitement for his projectable power potential when signing and already put it to use in the DSL, specifically to the pullside. The exit velocities should only get louder from here, and if he can use added strength to elevate more on contact, there’s even the possibility for above-average pop here in time. Concerns about the length of Feliz’s swing were quieted some with good contact rates, but he’ll face much tougher tests against stateside pitching.

Feliz ran wild in the DSL but is expected to have below-average speed by the time he reaches the Majors. The Nationals have stuck to their word about intending to play him at shortstop as much as possible, but the thought that he might have to move over to third base eventually remains. His arm strength will fit there. But everything is trending well enough offensively that Feliz moved to Single-A Fredericksburg for a late-season came at the end of his age-18 season.

Starting with a $5,284,400 signing pool, the Nationals came away with two of MLB Pipeline’s Top 25 international prospects in the 2024 class. Dominican outfielder Victor Hurtado (No. 20) was the headliner with a $2.8 million bonus, but not far behind him was Dominican infielder Feliz (No. 23) with a $1.8 million deal of his own. Both are expected to begin their careers in the Dominican Summer League.  

Standing in already at 6-foot-3 at just 17 years old, Feliz stood out to Nationals evaluators for his projectable size and strength. His promising pullside power should play pretty quickly when he first sees pro pitching. That right-handed swing can get a bit long, so tightening that up might be one of the early focuses for Washington’s hitting instructors, but the pop alone gives them plenty of positives to work with.  

The Nats say they believe Feliz can make impressive defensive plays up the middle at for his size, and given that we live in the age of the big shortstop, it’s possible he could stick there in time. It does seem more likely, however, that he’ll eventually have to move to third base, where he’s a more stereotypical fit. His arm strength -- which also drew praise as an amateur -- should help with that transition if and when it comes.
