Robert Calaz was the big get for the Rockies when the 2023 international signing period opened in January of that year. Four months later, the organization might have found a bargain in Dalis, who signed for $70,000 in May. It took a while for him to get going, spending two summers in the Dominican Summer League, but he hit .327/.445/.450 there in his second summer, then showed it might not be an aberration by coming stateside in 2025 and hitting his way from the Arizona Complex League up to Single-A Fresno, finishing with a combined .308/.399/.468 line.
Dalis gets some high praise from those who have been around the Rockies a while, earning comps to Ezequiel Tovar at a similar age in terms of how he plays the game. The switch-hitter has shown the ability to swing it from both sides of the plate, though he was stronger as a left-handed hitter in 2025, with a hit-over-power profile. He has gap power now with doubles-type pop, but he also isn’t close to being physically mature, so there could be more power to come in the future.
Hopefully, that doesn’t come at the expense of his speed and athleticism. He can steal a base and he has the agility to stay up the middle defensively, with an ease of operation defensively that’s fun to watch. He’ll keep seeing time at three infield positions and while he played he’s played mostly on the left side of the infield, some think second base might be his best shot as a long-term home if he turns into a table-setting every day type of player.
