The Marlins targeted bat-to-ball skills in the 2024 Draft, using four of their first five picks on players who stood out with that attribute. That included spending their fourth-rounder on Trimble, who slashed .369/.452/.635 with an 8.1 percent strikeout rate as a junior at James Madison. He reached Double-A six weeks into his first full pro season but injured his hamstring shortly afterward and missed two months.
Trimble has a disciplined approach and focuses on making line-drive contact from gap to gap. A right-handed hitter, he draws his share of walks and hangs in well against same-side pitching, profiling more as an on-base guy than a power source. His strength and bat speed are average at best, and he rarely turns on pitches or launches them in the air, so he'll likely top out at 10-15 homers per season.
Trimble has solid speed, will show quicker run times on occasion and has good feel for stealing bases. He has divided 2025 between all three outfield spots, displaying average range in center field and playing solid defense on the corners. His below-average arm could relegate him to left field.
