Ferreras earned all-Southern Conference honors in each of his three seasons at Western Carolina, launching 43 homers in the process. The 614th and final pick in the 2023 Draft, he reminds some Astros officials of Josh Rojas, who's in his sixth year in the big leagues after signing with Houston as a 26th-rounder in 2017. Ferreras hit his way to Double-A just a month into his first full pro season.
Though he's just 5-foot-7, Ferreras has strength in his stocky frame and bat speed in his right-handed stroke. That creates solid raw power and he gets to most of it with a pull-heavy mindset and a swing designed to lift balls in the air. Double-A pitchers have exploited his tendency to chase sliders and changeups, but he does have some feel for the barrel and draws a healthy amount of walks.
Though Ferreras has well-below-average speed, his instincts help him play quicker than that on the bases and in the field. He has average arm strength and a good first step that helps him cover ground as an infielder, and he has shuttled between second base, shortstop and third base this summer. His range is lacking for shortstop, but he's a reliable defender at second and third.
