Scouting Report

2024

Scouting grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 50 | Run: 60 | Arm: 60 | Field: 55 | Overall: 50

Signed for $297,500 out of Venezuela, Quintero looks like one of the bigger bargains from the 2023 international market. Though he was a talented catcher as an amateur, the Dodgers made him a full-time center fielder in order to take full advantage of his athleticism. He was the top 17-year-old performer in the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League in his pro debut, batting .359/.472/.618 and starring in the playoffs as his club won the championship.

Quintero has a quick right-handed swing, a disciplined approach and a knack for putting the bat on the ball. He should develop at least 20-homer power as he adds more muscle and starts driving more balls in the air. He's so advanced offensively that he made his full-season debut at age 18 this year.

Quintero has at least plus speed and turns it loose on the bases, swiping 22 bags in 26 attempts in 49 DSL games. That quickness also translates into center-field range, and he's making an easy transition to his new position. He has plus arm strength that would play nicely in right field if needed.
