Cabrera signed with the Rangers for only $10,000 out of the Dominican Republic in January 2022 and needed to repeat the Dominican Summer League a year later. But that stronger foundation in Year 2 helped propel him to a breakout campaign in his first stateside season, as evidenced by a .301/.438/.571 line and nine homers in 49 games in the Arizona Complex League in 2024. He touched Single-A Hickory for a month later that summer and returned to the Carolina League for all of ’25, hitting .256/.364/.366 with eight homers and 43 steals in 102 games. The Rangers traded him to the Nationals as part of the five-prospect return for MacKenzie Gore in January.
Recorded at 5-foot-11, Cabrera has surprising raw power for his size, and he can get to it in games with a lift-and-pull-heavy approach from the left side. (Seven of his eight homers in 2025 went to right field.) He actually turned some of his flyballs from the ACL into more line drives in Single-A, but his swing can still get too uphill at times. While he generally shows good discipline for his age, Cabrera proved virtually defenseless against sliders from his fellow southpaws, leading to severe splits issues.
A plus runner, Cabrera improved his baserunning acumen during his time in the Texas system, and he’ll dare opposing batteries to limit him to first base. With the ability to cover gap to gap like a vacuum, he profiles like a potential plus defender in center field, where he spent the bulk of his time in 2025. Cabrera’s bat will get plenty of chances to meet the potential of his glove in the rebuilding Washington system.

Though he signed for just $10,000 out of the Dominican Republic, the early returns suggest Cabrera may be the best prospect from the Rangers' 2022 international class. After spending his first two pro seasons in the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League, he celebrated his U.S. debut last year by ranking second in the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League in homers (nine) and third in OPS (1.009). He struggled during the final month in Single-A at age 19, though he did steal seven bases in 23 games. Cabrera enjoyed a solid return to the level (this time with Hickory) before getting traded to the Nationals in the offseason as part of the return in the MacKenzie Gore deal.
Cabrera weighs at least 15 pounds more than his listed 155, and he has sneaky plus raw power thanks to his deceptive strength and the bat speed and loft in his left-handed stroke. He primarily focuses on trying to launch balls to his pull side, though he did show a bit more patience and willingness to use the opposite field in 2024. He's still aggressive and his swing can get very uphill, so he'll have to make adjustments against more advanced pitches.
Cabrera had one of the best speed and power combinations in the Texas system, as he's at least a plus runner and improved his basestealing savvy last year. He should have the quickness for center field, and he spent more time up the middle in 2025. His average-to-solid arm strength is suitable for all three outfield spots.

Two of the best signings from the Rangers' 2022 international class were $10,000 bargains -- middle infielder Echedry Vargas and Cabrera. After Vargas led the Arizona Complex League with 11 homers in 2023, Cabrera ranked second in the Rookie-level circuit with nine blasts this summer. His combination of power and speed ranks among the best in the system.
Stronger than his listed 155 pounds, Cabrera looks to do damage with an uphill left-handed swing and a pull-heavy approach geared for home runs. That mindset naturally results in some swing-and-miss, but he also shows some discipline to work counts and draw walks. He'll probably have to make some adjustments as he faces more advanced pitching, but his offensive upside is intriguing.
Cabrera has plus speed and looks to make things happen on the bases. While his quickness should translate into center-field range, his defensive instincts are raw and he has spent more time on the corners than up the middle. His average-to-solid arm strength is suitable for right field.
