The top position player in a deep 2020 Oklahoma high school class loaded with pitching, Bohrofen was a top-three-rounds talent who ultimately couldn't be lured away from college. He didn't hit enough to claim a regular job as an Oklahoma freshman or Arkansas sophomore, though he did perform well with wood bats in the Cape Cod League in both summers. He has been one of the most dangerous hitters in the Southeastern Conference this spring and regained his former prospect status.
A left-handed hitter with a sound swing, Bohrofen has improved at making contact and driving the ball in the air throughout his college career. He tried to do too much in his lone season with the Sooners, but since has learned to let his plus raw power come naturally. He has developed a more discerning eye at the plate and his prodigious strength leads to high exit velocities, though his propensity to swing and miss in the strike zone concerns some clubs.
While Bohrofen will get drafted mostly based on his offensive production, he's a decent athlete. He has fringy-to-average speed and good instincts on the bases and in the outfield corners. He's a capable defender in left or right field with an average arm.

Bohrofen was a highly ranked player out of high school in 2020 and could have landed in the top three rounds but opted to play college ball at Oklahoma. A strong showing in the Cape Cod League and a strong finish in ‘23 with Arkansas revived his Draft stock, and the Blue Jays landed Bohrofen in the sixth round, where they were thrilled with the value. He carried the power of his 16-homer season in college right into pro ball, putting up a 1.080 OPS and seven home runs over just 24 games between the complex league and Single-A.
Bohrofen balances the Blue Jays system well. Many of their higher-ranked hitters, like Alan Roden or Spencer Horwitz, profile more as contact hitters who reach base at a high rate, while Bohrofen has the potential to mash. The big, well-built outfielder moves well enough to play a sturdy corner outfield position and let his bat shine. Bohrofen has excellent upper body strength and can produce power in multiple zones, which leaves the Blue Jays optimistic that this area of his game will sustain itself as he climbs levels. This will be challenged in High-A Vancouver, where he will face the same pitchers over and over.
There’s nothing complicated about Bohrofen’s projection. He’ll go as far as his bat takes him, and so far that bat looks exciting, though swing-and-miss against softer stuff presents some reason for pause. He should continue to benefit from the Blue Jays’ player development complex to hone his swing and represents one of the higher-upside power bats outside of the Orelvis Martinez and Arjun Nimmala tier.

Westmoore High (Oklahoma City, Okla.) has produced a pair pitchers taken near the top of the Draft -- 1993 first-rounder Jamey Wright and 1997 supplemental first-rounder Shane Arthurs -- but never has had a position player selected before the 15th round. That will change this June, because Bohrofen should fit in the top three rounds if he's signable away from an Oklahoma commitment. He's one of the better offensive prospects and has one of the highest floors in the 2020 high school class.
Bohrofen has a knack for barreling the ball with a quick, compact, left-handed swing and a track record of producing on the showcase circuit, though he didn't help his cause by regressing to a more uphill stroke in brief action this spring. He hasn't fully grown into his power yet but could develop into a 25-homer threat thanks to his penchant for making hard contact and backspinning the ball. While he has clocked sub-6.6-second 60-yard dash times at showcase events, his speed plays closer to average on the diamond.
Though it's Bohrofen's offensive upside that attracts scouts, he's a well-rounded player. His instincts give him an outside chance to stick in center field and if he can't, he can be a solid right fielder with arm strength to match. He also earns praise for his baseball IQ and makeup.
